(in 1960), died at his home in Virginia Beach. He was 73. A native of Chatham, Va., and the son of the late Emily Herndon and William G. Vansant Sr. Mr. Vansant graduated from Greenbrier Military Academy in 1946 and received his B.S.E.E. in electrical engineering in 1950 from V.P.I. He was Virginia's 302nd Registered Professional Engineer and was also registered in five other states: North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Mr. Vansant was a member of numerous engineering organizations including IEEE, NSPE, IESNA, ACED and AME. In 1953 he received his private pilot's license and was an active member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association (AOPA). He was a Commodore of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club (1977-78), and also a member of the Norfolk Boat Club. He was also a member of the Williamsburg Foundation Raleigh Tavern Society and a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Sandbridge, Va. Survivors include his wife, Jo Elmore Vansant; a brother, Dr. John H. Vansant and his wife, Betty of Onancock; a sister-in-law and her husband, Kathryn and Kenneth Rice; and three nephews, John H. Vansant Jr., Kenneth E. Rice Jr. and Robert C. Rice. on March 17, 2002.⁶
