She later divorced. Before moving to the Seattle area in 1985 to live near her daughter, Alieene attended the Palouse Christian and Federated churches. She returned to the Palouse in 2009, residing at Aspen Park Healthcare. Alienne was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Seattle Mariners and her grandchildren's sporting endeavors. She also enjoyed singing in her church choir, and attending her grandchildren's music programs. She had a lifelong interest in history, politics and traveling. Alieene is survived by her children, Judy (Mike) O'Brien, Beverly (Dale) Brantner, Glenda (Greg) Schmidt, and Glen (Dena) Curtis; her grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Craig, Phillip, Tyson Casey, Jessi and Maya; and seven great-grandchildren; one nephew, and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gilbert Yates. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Palouse Federated Church with Pastor Corey Laughary officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. on April 24, 2010.²

     Hazel Kathleen Poff Hazel Poff Corbin, age 83, died Monday, October 29, 2001 in Charlotte, N.C. She was born July 17, 1918 in Copper Hill, Va., the daughter of the late Guy Milton and Pearl Ada King Poff. She was preceded in death by her husband, David P. Corbin, in 1993; and her sister, Elizabeth Jackson, in 1995. Mrs. Corbin taught in Virginia public schools for more than 30 years, retiring in 1977 from Douglas Freeman High School. She had lived in Richmond, Va. from 1958 to 1997 and in Charlotte, N.C. from 1997 to 2001. She received a BS from Radford College in 1940 and an MS from the University of Virginia in 1962, and was a longtime member of the Chamberlayne Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Richard P. Corbin M.D. and his wife, Claire B. Corbin of West Bath, Maine; four grandchildren, Eugenie C. McAllister of Indianapolis, Ind., Anna Katherine Corbin M.D. of Columbus, Ohio, David Ethan Corbin of Boston, Mass. and Zachary Andrew Corbin of New Haven, Conn; three great-grandchildren, Alexander Corbin McAllister, Andrew Richard McAllister and Claire Anne McAllister; a sister, Virginia P. She was baptized as a young woman into Melrose United Methodist Church and upon her marriage she joined First Church of the Brethren. In that capacity, she served as Sunday school teacher, an active member of the Women's Fellowship, a member of church board, building committee and a deacon. She was honored to be elected as a Deaconess Emeritus in 2011. After the death of her husband, she felt the need to be active and to offer programing for the seniors in the church, so she founded the "Keenagers", which she said were recycled teenagers. She organized and sponsored many bus trips, a cruise, a trip to Hawaii. Regular luncheons were also and important fellowship for this group and through her charisma, the group grew to include many others from other church congregations. Mother took pride in being a lifelong house keeper and along with raising her family, she opened our home to her parents and cared for them until their deaths. She was active in Women's club, garden club, china painting, gardening, traveling and card playing. She loved music and played several instruments. An Easter card from one of her friends said "There is nobody else in the world quite like you." Truer words were never spoken. Mom had an adventurous nature, a keen wit, a generous spirit, a loving heart and a warm smile for everyone. Special thanks to the wonderful care givers from Generation Solutions, Shelia, Ementress, Marty, Summer, Priscilla and Sade. Special thanks to the wonderful staff of Good Samaritan Hospice. She had been a resident of Pocahontas for most of her life. She was a long time active member of the Pocahontas Baptist Church and was very involved in the life of her family and community. In addition to her parents, three brothers preceded her in death, Willard, Wilson, and Wilton Agee. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Farley Sr. of the home; three daughters, Dolores Hutcherson and husband Ron of Dacula, Ga., Janet Harrison and husband Elden of Joppa, Md., Pam Cannoy and husband Bill of Pocahontas; three sons, Robert Farley Jr. and wife Patricia of Charlottesville, Va., John Farley and wife Cathy of Princeton, David Farley of Princeton; 15 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren; three sisters, Laura Blackwell of Princeton, Juanita Harman of Bluefield, Va., Helen Lee and husband John of Bluefield; one brother, Robert Agee and wife Shirley of Wolfe. Nellie Juanita Agee died on January 22, 2010 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 87.^8,5 She BLUEFIELD, Va. — Juanita W. Harman, age 87, of Bluefield, Va., formerly Pocahontas, Va., departed this earthly life on Friday January 22, 2010 in Bluefield, W.Va. after a year long illness. Juanita was born February 4, 1922 in Stotesbury, W.Va., daughter of the late John C. and Nellie Yates Agee. She attended Elkhorn High School in McDowell County, W.Va. Juanita married E.B. (Burton) Harman on December 2, 1949. She was affiliated with the Pocahontas Pharmacy where she worked for many years and enjoyed the interaction with the people of Pocahontas and the surrounding area as they shopped at the drug store. During this time, she made numerous friends with the customers. While residing in Pocahontas, she attended the Pocahontas Baptist Church. She left Pocahontas several years after her retirement and moved to Bluefield, Va., but always thought of Pocahontas as her home. During her time in Bluefield, she attended Fincastle Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E.B. (Burton) Harman; three brothers, Willard, Wilson, and Wilton Agee; and two sisters, Hazel Agee Farley and Laura A. Blackwell. Those left to cherish and celebrate her life and memory are her son, Clarence Whitlow and his wife Gail of Bluefield, Va., and her son, Eddie Harman of Bluefield, Va. Grandchildren who reside in Bluefield, Va. that are left to remember her are Laura Hash, who took care of her during her illness, Morgan Harman, who "Ma Maw" always thought looked like her when she was a child, and Cameron Harman, who was "Ma Maw's" little boy. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends; and a very special person and loving caregiver, Kathi Hicks. Born June 12, 1924 in Kimball, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late John Agee and Nellie Yates Agee. Mrs. Lee had worked at Publix Supermarket and was of the Methodist faith. She was a wonderful mother, and was known as a great cook. Mrs. Lee was an avid reader and enjoyed doing embroidery work. She enjoyed walking and was an independent woman.
