She was born December 10, 1919 the daughter of the late Joseph Leslie Wertz and Nina Bertha Houser Wertz. Surviving are her children, Don Randolph Wimmer and wife, Lou, of Salem, Brenda Bland and husband, Larry, of Roanoke, George Wimmer, Jr. and wife, Faye, of Roanoke, and Jerrold D. Wimmer of Roanoke; grandchildren, Randy Wimmer and wife, Cynthia, Adina Bland, Malinda Bland, Victoria Shaver, Audra Wimmer, and Cecilia Wimmer; stepgrandson, J.J. Patterson; stepgranddaughter, Mary Alice Patterson; three stepgreat grandchildren, Conner Kolgan, Dillon Kolgan, and Devin Kolgan; brother, Ronnie F. Wertz; extended family and friends, Robert G. Shaver, Cindy Barcenas, Janice Wimmer, Kim Alls, Loretta Wimmer, Chas Colley, and George Burton. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 1 p.m. at Lotz Vinton Chapel with Pastor Jay Edwards and the Rev. Butch Hammed officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Special Thank You goes to the staff at Friendship Health Care, Good Samaritan Hospice and Dr. Raj Bharathan. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel. on November 3, 2006.2

A location will be announced at a later date. Mrs. Shaver was born July 14, 1952, in Roanoke. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1969. She married her lifelong partner and best friend Robert G. Shaver on Dec. 24, 1970, at their childhood church, Trinity Baptist in Roanoke. She came to Alaska in 1984 and enjoyed spending time with her family, singing, camping, fishing and driving along any Alaska road. In 1986 she was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure. The doctors, staff and patients of Renal Care Group (formerly known as The Alaska Kidney Center), Day Break and Immaculate Conception Assisted Living Home were an important part of her life. She loved working with children and was employed by The Gingerbread Daycare Center as a part-time teaching assistant and taught first-grade Sunday school until her health prevented her from doing so. Her family wrote: ''Vicky's faith in God was a great power in all of our lives. She enjoyed the simple things in life and gave the greatest gifts of love to all who knew her.'' She is survived by her husband, Robert G. Shaver; daughter, Victoria L. Shaver of Anchorage; parents, George and Lillian Wimmer; brothers, Don, George Willard and Jerrold Dillard Wimmer; sister, Brenda W. Bland of Virginia; and many close friends and family in Alaska and the Lower 48. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Alaska Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box 241808, Anchorage 99524. on July 20, 2002.3
