Born August 20, 1940 at Martinsville, VA she was a daughter of the late James Otha Poff and Almeda Vernice Wood Poff. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Mrs. Miller enjoyed reading and doing genealogical research. She was a researcher and guide with the Tazewell Historical Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Poff. She is survived by her husband, of 52 years, Henry Carr Miller; one sister, Nancy Arnold and husband, David of Fieldale, VA; niece, Kimberly Icenhower; nephews, Stephen Poff and James Arnold; close friend, Carolyn Angles.⁴ She was born on August 20, 1940 at Martinsville, Virginia.^1,2,3,4 She married Henry Carr Miller on January 15, 1966 at Martinsville, Virginia.^1,5,2,6,7,4 As of January 15, 1966,her married name was Miller.² Janice Mae Poff died on June 2, 2018 at Bristol, Sullivan Co., Tennessee, at age 77.⁴

     Franklin Edward "Frank" Foster was buried at Foster Cemetery, Franklin Co., Virginia.⁴ He was born on March 13, 1908 at Henry Co., Virginia.^2,3 He married Esther Mae Poff, daughter of James Ira Poff and Lucy Gay King, on September 20, 1930 at Henry Co., Virginia.^1,2 Franklin Edward "Frank" Foster and Esther Mae Poff were divorced in October, 1936 at Henry Co., Virginia.⁵ Franklin Edward "Frank" Foster died on August 28, 1940 at Martinsville, Virginia, at age 32.^3,4 He Frank Frank Foster, 32, Martinsville furniture worker and native of Franklin County, died in Shackelford's Hospital Wednesday night following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gabrie Foster, near Rocky Mount. Interment was in the family burial ground near by. Surviving are his parents and three brothers, J. C., L. G. and Ralph Foster of Bassett. on August 31, 1940.⁴

     Hubert Ray Poole Hubert R. (Hugh) Poole was born as a very young child on September 17, 1944 to Lee and Etta McKinney Poole in Marion, North Carolina. He died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 and is survived by a brother, Charles W. Poole of North Port, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his lovely wife of 51 years, Patricia Poff Poole and a sister, Jean Poteat. Hugh graduated from Marion NC High School in 1962 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Appalachian State Teachers College (now Appalachian State University) in Boone, NC in 1967 and a Masters of Art degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 1974. He taught elementary school for 10 years, was Executive Director of MARC Workshop for 16 years and retired from Piedmont Community Services after 16 years. In his retirement years he worked for Norris Funeral Services, drove automobiles for Nelson Motors and delivered car parts for Advance Automotive. Hugh and his bride, Patricia, attended Trinity Friends for over 35 years where he was active in the music program. Later, they attended Immanuel Friends in Eden, NC and Hillcrest Baptist Church in Horsepasture. Entombment will be at Roselawn Abbey.³ He was buried at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia.³ He was born on September 17, 1944 at Marion, McDowell Co., North Carolina.^1,3 He married Patricia Ann "Pat" Poff, daughter of Luyn Horace aka "Logan Harris" Poff and Marion Louise "Mae" Hill, on June 28, 1969 at Martinsville, Virginia.^4,1,5,2,3,6 Hubert Ray Poole died on January 12, 2022 at Virginia at age 77.³

     Leona Farmer Young Leona Farmer Young Poff, born January 5, 1920, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She was able to celebrate her 101st birthday with her family. She was the last surviving daughter of the late Jesse and Lura Young of Ferrum. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, William P. "Bill" Poff; brothers and sisters, Ruth (Russell) Joyce, Myrtle (Bill) McGee, Wayne (Fannie Jane) Young, Bernice (Letcher) Mullins, Hildreth Young, Frances (Stafford) Witt, Dennis (Mildred) Young, and Navie Young. Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and greats. She will be greatly missed by her very special great niece Lindsey Gayle and dog Frehley. Special thanks to her care giver Charles Young. Shively (Beloved Father), 81 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, January 24, 2018. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Shively; daughter, Rhonda Shively; and parents, Danny and Iris Hale Shively. He is survived by his children, Pamela West and husband Tommy, Gary Shively; step-children, Randy Renick and Coy Lee Renick; grandchildren, Aaron West, Hunter West, Hannah Shively, Sarah Shively; and sister, Joyce Bowling. Glenn retired from Fieldcrest Mills with many years of service. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.² He was born on July 24, 1936 at Franklin Co., Virginia.³ He died on January 24, 2018 at Virginia at age 81.²

     Melvin Gary Mullins Melvin Gary Mullins, age 80 of Rocky Mount passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was born December 3, 1943 a son of the late Gary and Mary Poff Mullins. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jason Mullins. Surviving are a daughter, Joleigh Medley; several grandchildren; his nieces, Pam West (Tommy), Tiffany O’Neill (Todd) and nephew, Gary Shively; great-nieces and nephews, Aaron West, Hunter West, Victoria O’Neil, Hannah and Sarah Shively along with many wonderful close friends. Melvin was loved and cherished by his girls, Marsha Ann Vest, Jessica Ann Link, Hope Nichole Howard, Emory Ann Clark and Avery Joe Link. He was a huge fan of NASCAR. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Verna Poff; four sons, Earl Poff, Damascus, Preston Poff, Boston, Mass., Walter and Ralph Poff, both of Newport News, Va., and lone daughter, Miss Nancy Poff, Damascus. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. on August 27, 1954.⁹

Sarah Arabelle "Ary" King died on October 14, 1957 at Spencer, Roane Co., West Virginia.^4,9 She Oct 14 - Mrs. Ary Bell Shockey, 84, of Fayetteville died about 6:30 p.m. today in a Spencer Hospital. She was born in Floyd County, Va., and came to Fayette County 60 years ago. Survivors include: three sons, Eldridge of Rt. 1, Fayetteville, Hote of Rt. 2 Fayetteville, and Kenneth of Lansing; three daughters, Mrs. Elsie Creger of Charleston, Mrs. R. R. Dooley of Fayetteville and Mrs. W. M. Comer of Dobson, N.C; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. on October 15, 1957.⁹
