In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Poff. He died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 and is survived by a brother, Charles W. Poole of North Port, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his lovely wife of 51 years, Patricia Poff Poole and a sister, Jean Poteat. Hugh graduated from Marion NC High School in 1962 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Appalachian State Teachers College (now Appalachian State University) in Boone, NC in 1967 and a Masters of Art degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC in 1974. He taught elementary school for 10 years, was Executive Director of MARC Workshop for 16 years and retired from Piedmont Community Services after 16 years. In his retirement years he worked for Norris Funeral Services, drove automobiles for Nelson Motors and delivered car parts for Advance Automotive. Hugh and his bride, Patricia, attended Trinity Friends for over 35 years where he was active in the music program. Later, they attended Immanuel Friends in Eden, NC and Hillcrest Baptist Church in Horsepasture. Leona Farmer Young Leona Farmer Young Poff, born January 5, 1920, received her heavenly wings on Saturday, January 16, 2021. She was able to celebrate her 101st birthday with her family. She was the last surviving daughter of the late Jesse and Lura Young of Ferrum. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, William P. "Bill" Poff; brothers and sisters, Ruth (Russell) Joyce, Myrtle (Bill) McGee, Wayne (Fannie Jane) Young, Bernice (Letcher) Mullins, Hildreth Young, Frances (Stafford) Witt, Dennis (Mildred) Young, and Navie Young. Surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and greats. She will be greatly missed by her very special great niece Lindsey Gayle and dog Frehley. Special thanks to her care giver Charles Young.
