Evelyn was born March 31, 1911, to Squire and Maude (Verley) Gamber in Sheridan, WY, she was one of 14 children. She married Glenn Carroll on July 18, 1929, to this union seven children were born. In November 1984, she married Claire Alspach. He passed away in 1985. She is survived by her children, LaVern Carroll, Custer, Marvin (Maggie) Carroll, Rapid City, Earl (Kathy) Carroll, Billings, MT, Beverly (Ben) Carlson, Edgemont, Arlene (Harold) Flack, Rapid City; one brother, Bill Gamber of Colorado; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Bernard Carroll and Wayne Carroll; seven brothers; five sisters; and her three husbands, Glenn Carroll, Leroy Hammond and Claire Alspach. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, at McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer, with Pastor Bill Savery officiating. Interment will follow at Pringle Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Evelyn's name to benefit the Pringle Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements have been placed in the care of McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Custer. on September 3, 2008.2
