She was the pillar of strength, guidance and support of her husband of forty years and to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and a twinkle to her eye. To her, worldly possessions meant little. Her greatest possessions were times spent with her family, both in adversity as well as joy. She leaves many survivors and devoted friends as she goes to spend eternity with her Lord. Surviving are her husband, Herman L. Guilliams; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman E. and Donna Jackson Richards, Vinton, James Richards, San Francisco, Calif., Roger and Marie Richards, Bassett, Donnie Richards, Martinsville and Jimmy Lee Guilliams, Callaway; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gallew, Sanford, N.C., Sandra and Mike Donovant, Spencer, Debbie and Kenny Meador, Wirtz, Donna and Jeff Adkins, Chatham, Lisa and Ivy Jay Layman, III, Ferrum and Delores and Mike Agee, Rocky Mount; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gordon Nichols, New Orleans, La., Burton Nichols, Roanoke and Robert Nichols, Troutville; sisters, Tressie Sigmon, Salem, Flossie Moran, Norfolk, Annie Moran and Shirley Mauk, both of Copper Hill; several nieces and nephews also survive. Interment will follow in the Callaway Community Cemetery. on December 16, 1995.1

He was born on June 9, 1746 at Morris Co., New Jersey.3 He Joseph was christened on this date on March 9, 1755 at First Presbyterian Church, Morristown, Morris Co., New Jersey.4 He married Sarah Cooper circa 1770. Joseph Cole left a will on March 11, 1830 at Buncombe Co., North Carolina; I, Joseph Cole, being of sound mind & perfect memory. I wish as much of my affects sold as to pay my just debts.
I give unto my wife Susannah Cole possession of the farm whereon I now live, containing 200 acres during her widowhood or until my younges[sic] son come of the age of twenty one yrs. with the stock of grain at my death.
I give unto my oldest son James Cole 200 acres of land joining the land whereon I now live, above the creek.
I give unto my youngest son Lewis Cole the farm whereon I now live, to take possession when of age, or rented out for his use, provided my wife should marry or leave the place.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Donald Hodges; brother Everett Craighead and sister Linda Craighead. Carol was a loving wife and mother, who was known as a hard worker and a great cook who enjoyed her flowers. She was a member of Monte Vista Church of the Brethren and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Surviving is her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Marshall Hodges; son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Patricia Hodges; daughters, Janice and Rickey Clingenpeel, Amanda and Chuck Parker and Lori Hodge; grandchildren Erica Hancock, Mavis Jamal (Alykhan), Shannon Riley (Adam), Jessica Flanagan, Ryan Clingenpeel (Billie Jo), Cameron Eberth (Eric), Morgan Bowles, Alex Bowles (Anthony), Marissa Grubb (Scott), Dalton Grubb, Dillon Hodge; Thirteen Great-Grandchildren; brothers James and Lilly Craighead and Gene and Joy Craighead. A special thank you to A Nurses Touch and Intrepid Hospice for all your help and to Louise Guilliams who cared for our Mom.      Everette Oscar Craighead Everette Oscar Craighead, 75, husband, of Patricia (Sahms) Craighead of Verona, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, in Augusta Health in Fishersville. Mr. Craighead was born on December 13, 1944, in Franklin County, Virginia, a son of the late Ralph C. and Trudy (Conner) Craighead. Everette was a faithful member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. He was a top salesman for Farm Bureau Insurance for many years, and also served as manager of their Leesburg office. He was later employed for many years as a salesman for Clayton Homes, and was self-employed as a Notary Public, and a mortgage closing agent. In addition to his parents, Everette was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Craighead. Everette is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia (Sahms) Craighead, whom he married on November 22, 1973. Also surviving is his daughter, Amy LeCheryl Craighead; two step-sons Anthony Musick and his wife, Sherry, and Scott Musick and his wife, Judy; a step-daughter, Carol Harrison and her husband, Ben; siblings, James Craighead and his wife, Lilly and family, Gene Craighead and his wife, Joy and family, and Carol Hodges and her husband, Marshall and family; four grandchildren, Tyler Musick, Rachel Harrison, Benjamin Harrison IV, and Alexander Harrison; two step-grandchildren, Heather Smith and husband Doug, and Christopher Hewitt and wife, Cheran; five step-great-grandchildren, Kenley Smith, Everley Smith, Reed Smith, Clara Hewitt, and Cate Hewitt; his pet dog, "Su Su"; and cat, "Sugar".      Linda Connie Craighead Linda Connie Craighead, October 02, 1948 - February 21, 2015. Our Beloved Linda Craighead age 66 of Callaway went to be with her Lord on Saturday February 21, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Trudy Craighead. She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Marshall Hodges of Callaway; three brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Lilly Craighead of Callaway, Everette and Pat Craighead of Verona, Gene and Joy Craighead of Callaway; numerous nieces and nephews. She also blessed the lives of many special friends including Jane Gilley, Lori Wray, Lois Carr and Earline Altice. Her childlike heart was an example to all she knew as she showed love and acceptance to all of God's children. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Church Cemetery.3 She was buried at Monte Vista Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 25 Wades Gap Road, Callaway, Franklin Co., Virginia.8,3 She was born on October 2, 1948 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,8,2,3 She died on February 21, 2015 at Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 66.3

John Cole1

     John Cole The register of the First Presbyterian Church of Morristown, New Jersey, shows that on March 9, 1755, John Cole was "baptized and renewed covenant" and Mary Cole "renewed covenant." Their four children, John (age 11), Joseph (age 9), Phebe (age 5), and Hannah (age 1) were baptized. The register further show that six more children were born to John and Mary Cole and were baptized, as follows: David 1756, Daniel 1758, Sarah 1760, Masey 1762, Mary 1764, and Lydia 1766. The family removed to Frederick Co., Virginia, where John Cole's will was produced to the Court in Winchester April 21, 1808, naming wife Mary and sons John, Joseph, and Daniel and daughters Phebe, Hannah, Sarah, Masy, and Mary. Mary Cole's will was produced to the Court in Winchester Feb 5, 1816. Her will states in part "I bequeath to my daughter, Sarah Mann, the tract of land I now live on as the land was willed to me by my husband John Cole..." John and Mary Cole's son Joseph lived for a time in Montgomery Co., Virginia, and then in Buncombe Co., North Carolina. He was born circa 1719/20.1 He married Mary Unknown circa 1742/43.1 John Cole died circa 1808 at Frederick Co., Virginia.1
