Theodore Davis Yeatts Sr. was buried at Riverview Cemetery, 1701 Chesapeake Street, Charlottesville, Virginia.5 He was born on September 27, 1873 at Stuart, Patrick Co., Virginia.4,3 He married Helen Kinnier Davis on June 18, 1901 at Richmond, Virginia.1,2,4,7 Theodore Davis Yeatts Sr. died on September 9, 1935 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 61.4,8 He T. D. YEATTS SR., IS INJURED FATALLY. Credit Manager For Bailey Lumber Company Killed By Auto Driven By Mrs. George S, Fox, Of Burkes Garden. Theodore D. Yeatts Sr., 62, credit manager for the Bailey Lumber company, was fatally injured early last night when he was struck by an automobile while crossing Bluefield avenue at Cherry street intersection near the Bailey Lumber company's plant. Mr. Yeatts succumbed to crushing injuries to his chest at the Bluefield sanitarium at 9 o'clock, just two hours after the accident occurred. Physicians said that in addition to the chest injuries, Mr. Yeatts had suffered a fracture of the left knee and laceration on the back of bis head. Mrs. George S. Fox of Burkes Garden, Va., driver of the car, gave bond of $500 soon after the accident with her brother, Eugene Stowers, of Bluefleld, as surety. Morton Wagner assistant prosecuting attorney, informed Chief of Police C. N Wilson after the death of Mr. Yeatts that Mrs. Fox bond's would be Increased today. Mrs. Fox stopped her automobile immediately after the accident, and with other assistance brought Mr. Yeatts to the sanitarium. She immediately got in touch with relatives here and they furnished a report of the accident to the police as was given them by Mrs. Fox. Mrs. Fox was driving east on Bluefield avenue, coming here for a visit to relatives. There was one other person in the car. As Mrs. Fox related details of the accident to relatives, she said that she had observed Mr. Yeatts as he walked out into the street and had decreased the speed of her car. She said Mr. Yeatts stopped, and then she threw her car into second gear and started to pass him. Mrs. Fox said just as she started to proceed, Mr. Yeatts walked in front of her car. Police last night had not learned if there were any other witnesses to the accident other than the occupants of the car. Mr. Yeatts, it was learned, had just left the home of P. C. Winborne, 1201 Highland avenue, where he has taken his meals for a number of years. He was returning to the Bailey Lumber company's plant where he maintained a bachelor apartment for a greater part of the time he had been associated with the firm. Being his home, Mr. Yeatts had taken a great interest in the beautification of the company's plant. The beautiful lawn and flowers on the east side of the plant, which has become one of the real show places in that section of the city, was the result of Mr. Yeatts' work and care. Mr. Yeatts was a native of Henry county, Virginia, He lived at Charlottesville a number of years and later moved to Richmond. He came to Bluefield about fifteen years ago and first worked with the Economy House and Material company. For the past twelve years he has been with the Bailey Lumber company. He was widely known in Bluefield and held in high esteem by all who know him. He was a member of the Baptist church and is survived by the following children: Theodore D. Yeatts Jr., of Welch, formerly of the J. C. Penney company, of this city; Howard Yeatts, of Richmond; Mrs. Talmage Gwaltney of Smithfield, Va; Mrs. W. W. Peery Jr., of Tazewell, and Mrs. C. M. Bass, of Richmond. His wife died in 1916. Mr. Yeatts also leaves one brother, Richard T. Yates, of Richmond, and one sister, Miss Emma Yates, of Pocahontas. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church, Duhring street, at 4 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. T. E. Peters. The body will be taken to Charlottesville, Wednesday morning for interment beside the grave of his wife. Until the funeral hour this afternoon the body will be at the Mercer Funeral Home, Bland street, where it may be viewed by friends. Active pallbearers will be: W. B. Dunn , P. C. Winborne, J. A. Coleman, W. Y. Darling, H. X. Morton, W. R. Keesee, H. W. Spelden, and C. J. Cheyney. on September 10, 1935.8
