He served in the US Army SHAPE Headquarters in Paris, France from November 1958 to June 1960. He also worked as a political cartoonist for 20 years and 23 years in the Postal and Inspection Service. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery. on February 11, 2003.4

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Eunice Johnson Craft of Covington; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ruthie Craft of Covington; his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Gene Lodge of Covington; four grandchildren, Jonathan Craft, Benjamin Craft, Matthew Lodge and Holly Lodge, all of Covington; one sister, Opal Divers of Boones Mill; a brother-in-law, Arthur Paxton of Grottoes and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Warren officiating. Interment will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be John Helmintoller, W.B. Divers, Gary Lodge, Richard Varner, Jim Birchfield, Dennie Bell, Jakie Kinsey and Clyde Selman. Alternates will be Jake Crawford, Darrell Crawford, Jim Simpson, Frank Williamson and J.D. Jones. Friends may pay their respects at any time at Arritt Funeral Home. The family will receive their friends Sunday evening from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Arritt Funeral Home. The family suggests that donations in Mr. Craft's name be made to Calvary Christian Church, 1303 S. Pond Ave., Covington, Va., 24426; or to Mountain Regional Hospice, 537 Main St., Clifton Forge, Va., 24422. on April 23, 2006.1
