Hammack and was also preceded in death by a stepson, Everett Goodwin; two brothers, Fred and Lewis Hammack; and a sister, Eva H. Altizer. Surviving are a sister, Bertha H. Altice of Vinton; two grandsons, Danny and Steve Goodwin of Las Vegas, Nevada; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Ronnie and Dottie Victory of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. G. Mark Washington and the Rev. Charles R. Doyle officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. on July 19, 2001.2

Born here 74 years ago, she had lived in Lock Haven until after her marriage to Mr. Holloway, who was a nephew to Dr. L. M. Holloway of Salona, husband of her sister. Mrs. L. M. Holloway died recently after a lifelong residence at Salona. Another sister, also now dead, was Mrs. Charles Rote, whose sister-in-law, Mrs. Effie Weymouth, was also a Lock Haven resident. Miss Edith Wilson of this city is a cousin of Mrs. Holloway. Mrs. Holloway was a member of the Eastern Star, She resided at 1601 N. Orange Grove Ave., Hollywood. on August 16, 1940.5

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Melrose Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Larry Sprouse. Gladys Ilene Aldridge died on August 7, 2011 at Virginia at age 82.7 She Gladys Aldridge Perdue, of Copper Hill, left her earthly home on Sunday afternoon, August 7, 2011, to join her husband, Carl Wayne Perdue. She was born on August 30, 1928, to George Wellington Aldridge and Artie Florence Hale who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters. She was a member of Sowders Chapel, Shawsville. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Julien and Sharon Perdue, of Christiansburg, Brenda and Terry Young, of Roanoke, and Loretta and Scott Sensabaugh, of Fairfield. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Whitney Perdue, of Christiansburg, Mark Perdue, of Virginia Beach, and Michael Young, of Roanoke. She also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Suzy Hamilton, Ruby Sloan, and Mary Martin, for their excellent care until she made her home at Wheatland Hills. They would also like to thank the staff at Wheatland for making her comfortable during her last days on earth. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, after 6 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home where the family will be from 6 until 8 p.m. The family will be at the home of Julien and Sharon Perdue at 75 Overland Drive, Christiansburg, Va., at all other times. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rex Maynard and Willie Katherine Aldridge; brother, Alfred "Tops" Aldridge; sisters, Birdie Basham and Lorene Trent; and grandsons, David Moore and Cade Aldridge. He leaves to mourn his wife of 38 years, Lois Aldridge; brother, Vernon Aldridge; sisters, Neta Miller and Deane Custer; sons, William Aldridge (Suzanne), James Aldridge (Debbie); daughters, Yvonne Rhudy (Frank), Sandra Brunson (Dave), Shirley Chittum, Jean Redding (James), and Joyce Hartman (David). He also leaves to mourn 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Wink was a proud lifetime Marine who was awarded a Purple Heart when his unit took over the island of Iwojima, during the Korean War. He was a devoted member of the 9th Street Brethren Church. on March 13, 2008.3
