She was a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She was born October 6, 1918 in the Copper Hill section of Floyd County, Va., the daughter of the late Daniel Moses Wimmer and Cammie DeWeese Wimmer. She moved from Floyd County to Roanoke in 1955 and to the Glenvar section of Roanoke County in 1957. She was a member of Peters Creek Church of the Brethren, an avid fisherwoman, a great sports fan, a terrific Scrabble, dominoes, and card player, and an amazing quilter and baker of fried apple pies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Wickham, brother, Rev. Frank H. Wimmer, sisters, Mamie Wimmer Cox, Virgie Wimmer Aldridge, and Nellie Wimmer Manning. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Evelyn Wimmer; sister, Dorothy Wimmer Tuck; sister-in-law, Elva Wickham Eary; son, Douglas Wickham and wife, Sylvia; son, Thomas W. Wickham; daughter, Jeanette Slone and husband, Odell; daughter, Diane Beason and husband, Jack; daughter, Jill Wickham and friend, Robert Acuff; grandsons, Rick Slone, Roger Slone, Earl Wise, Robert Wise, Tim Beason, Barry Wickham, Ben Wickham, Seth Wickham, and Clay Walthall; granddaughters, Regina Saul, Shari Winebarger, T.J. Beason, Cammi Beason, Laura Wickham Stogner, Katie Walthall, and Maggie Furrow; great-grandsons, Travis Slone, Justin Slone, Aaron Martin, Cameron Wise, Forest Beason, Cole Winebarger, Kellen Walthall, Justin Stogner, and Branson Stogner; great-granddaughters, Christy Slone, Emily Cyrus, Carissa Martin, Lindsay Martin, Macie Winebarger, Gracie Walthall, Shayla Wise, and Heather Wise. She married Ronald Lee Wimmer, son of Rev. Frank H. Wimmer and Hassie Nester, on August 8, 1956. As of August 8, 1956,her married name was Wimmer. Shirley Ann Manning died on November 15, 2014 at Virginia at age 77.2 She Shirley Ann Wimmer, 77, of Bent Mountain, went to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, November 15, 2014. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Manning Sr. and Perdine Manning; and her son, Donnie Wimmer. She is survived by her son, Randy Manning and wife, Rosy; her brother, Ralph Manning Jr. (Donna); and her sister, Geraldine Hicks (Bill). Her grandchildren, Heather Stitt (Jason), Frances Shugart (Matt), and Nathan and Jeremy Wimmer. Her great grandchildren, Emmalyn Stitt, Noah Shugart; and several nieces and nephews. Shirley worked at Coles Egg Farm and Custom Wood till her retirement. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Mount Union Church of the Brethren, 9420 Bent Mountain Road, Bent Mountain, with the Rev. Greg Fleshman officiating. Interment will follow at Copper Hill Cemetery, Copper Hill. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 18, 2014, 5 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke. Mark Randall "Randy" Wimmer died on December 25, 2015 at Bent Mountain, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 56.4 He Mark Randall (Randy) Wimmer, 56, of Bent Mountain, Va., passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family after a short battle with colon cancer on Friday, December 25, 2015. He was born on June 1, 1959, a son of the late Shirley Wimmer and Ronnie Wimmer. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Wimmer; and his grandparents, the Rev. Frank and Hassie Wimmer, and Ralph Manning Sr. and Perdine Manning. Randy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Rosetta "Rosy" Wimmer; his children, Heather Stitt and husband, Jason, Frances Shugart and husband, Matthew, Nathan Wimmer, Jeremy Wimmer and special girlfriend, Brittaney Bandy; four precious grandchildren whom he adored, Emmalyn and Luke Stitt and Noah and Kaitlyn Shugart; special nephews, Jed Witt and Justin Witt; his mother-in-law, Margaret "Lorraine" Witt; stepmother, Louise Wimmer; and special brothers-in-law, Lewis "Eddie" Witt and David Witt. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. He retired from Roanoke County as a building inspector after 23 years of service. He volunteered at Bent Mountain Fire and Rescue Department for 39 years, 12 serving as chief. After the death of his father-in-law, Ed Witt, Randy and his sons took over Witt's Apple Orchard. Randy enjoyed working the orchard with his sons. Randy was an avid fisherman and enjoyed being a member of the Bass Club in Floyd, Va. He enjoyed fishing and golfing with his family and friends. A special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care and support and Dr. Fintel and staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Center. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Ave., Roanoke. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at Mount Union Church of the Brethren, 9420 Bent Mountain Road, Bent Mountain, with the Rev. Greg Fleshman officiating. He served the people of Virginia for many years through his work at the Virginia Employment Commission. He retired in 1995 as manager of the Radford VEC office. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A private family service will be held at a later date.
