She graduated from Princeton High School in 1932 and then attended Bluefield Business College. She was a member of Sophia First Baptist Church and was a former Sunday school teacher there. She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Shupe; a granddaughter, Kathleen Sue Shupe; and two brothers, R L. Boothe and Oka Boothe. She will be sadly missed by four sons, Walter R. of Horner, Lonnie and wife Emiko of Crossville, Tenn., Donnie and wife Shirley of Midway and Douglas and wife Mary of West Palm Beach, Fla; a brother, Dr. Billie Boothe of Allentown, Pa; two sisters, Lettie Boothe of Hilltop and Captola Burford of Parkersburg; six grandchildren, Jennifer Conklin, Lisa Ingram and Greg, Douglas Jr., David and Donna Shupe; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Conklin, Turner “Tai" Ingram and Allison Shupe; and a special friend and caregiver, Judy Helton. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. on June 16, 2002.7

Gentry Shupe. Mr. Shupe was a retired coal miner, having worked 34 years. He was a member of Sophia First Baptist Church and UMWA District 29. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roddie C. and Lewis Earl Shupe; and three sisters, Mary Kent, Cordelia Riddle and Margaret Jack. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Eva Dale Boothe Shupe; four sons, Walter R. Shupe of Horner, Lonnie Shupe and his wife, Emiko, of Citrus Heights, Calif., Donnie Shupe and his wife, Shirley, of Midway, and Douglas D. Shupe and his wife, Mary, of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla; three brothers, Gene Shupe and his wife, Dorothy, of Keystone, Tom Shupe and his wife, Ruth, of Paw Paw and Fred Shupe and his wife, Brenda, of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Bessie Kallam of Summerfield, N.C., and Judy Reid and her husband, Homer, of Chilhowie, Va; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. on October 24, 1996.5
