She was Mrs. Edith Mae Bell, 45, of Copper Hill, who was working part-time for the Floyd County Health Department. Dr. F. C. Bedsaul, medical examiner, said Mrs. Bell was alone in her car and was traveling toward Roanoke from her home when the car skidded on a 50-foot patch of ice. He said the auto ran off the right side of the road went down an embankment and crashed against a tree. He said Mrs Bell died of a fractured skull. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Mary Ann Bell, Mrs. Carolyn Sue Bell, at home; a son, Douglas A. Bell, at home; her mother, Mrs. Clara Rhudy Matkins, Copper Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Basil Jones Bell, W.Va., Mrs. Mabel Mull, Asheboro N.C. on December 20, 1969.2

A son of Harry C. Deisher, employee of the stale auditor's office, and Lorene Williams Deisher, the young man was born at Clifton Forge, Va., Aug. 8, 1916. The family moved to Charleston when "Sonny," as he was known to family and friends, was a baby. He graduated from Charleston high school in February, 1936. He formerly was a member of Boy Scouts' troop No. 38, and was a bugler of city-wide reputation. Surviving him are his parents and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Deisher Smith. Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist Episcopal church, South, at 2:30 o'clock Thursday, under charge of Rev. B. P. Taylor, a former pastor. Burial will he in Sunset Memorial park. Pallbearers will be Denvil Taylor, Paul Williamson, Denzil Gainer, Arthur Thomas, Floyd Tillson and J. W. Corder, Jr. on July 13, 1938.2

Lodge of Perfection, a Knight Templar, and a Shriner. He was also a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Rumburg Wickham, three sons, Reginald and Noel Wickham, Jr., of Bluefield, and A. Scott Wickham, of Winter Park, Fla; four sisters. Mrs. R. D. Kirkpatrick and Adeline Wickham of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Ed Bower and Mrs. R. L. Barbour of Salem, Va; eight grand-children. Masons will be in charge of graveside rites, with an escort furnished by Knights Templar. on May 1, 1961.5

She died Tuesday at a hospital at Richmond, Va., after a brief illness. She also leaves a son R. B. Short Jr. She was the widow of Reginald Baxter Short Sr., who had both oil and mining interests and was active in amateur sports here. He died in 1940. on October 12, 1960.3

Mrs. Kaley's health has been failing for eight years. She was born in Lock Haven, a daughter of the late William A. Chatham and Mrs. Mary E. Chatham who survives. Following her marriage, Mrs. Kaley lived in Renovo a short time, then for three years in Harrisburg, and 19 years in Philadelphia where her husband was an employe of the Reading Railroad. They returned to Lock Haven in 1950, and at that time Mrs. Chatham began her residence with the Kaleys. Mr. Kaley preceded his wife in death in 1961. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Chatham are a brother, Byron S. Chatham, Venice, Fla; and a sister, Mrs. William K. Dauber, Lock Haven. Mrs. Kaley worked for Pennwoven Co. six years as a young woman. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Class of the church school. on May 16, 1966.7

Prior to going to Philadelphia, Mr. Kaley worked for the Railway Express in this vicinity, and at the Pennsylvania Railroad shops in Renovo. He was a member of First Baptist Church. His wife, Ada Chatham Kaley, survives; a brother, John, Cogan Station R.D. 2; and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Cole and Mrs. Erma Hadley, Meadville. on September 1, 1961.8
