Survivors include four children, Marjorie Newton of Richmond, Richard Porter of Macon, Ga., Betty Wade of Lynchburg, and Michael Mitchell of Madison Heights; seven sisters, Nettie Davis, Nellie Henson, Mary Pleasants, Evelyn Arthur, Lottie Linkous, Cora Hermanson and Ethel Wooldridge; four brothers, Boyd Tyree, Jessie Tyree, Herman Tyree and William Tyree, 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, in the Evans Family Cemetery. Whitten Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Park Avenue Chapel is assisting the family. on February 24, 2006.⁴
