He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph E. Wimmer Jr. and Lottie Shilling Wimmer; and his wife of 38 years, Carol Conner Wimmer. on September 26, 2019.2

(Gene) and Carol Wimmer of Roanoke; his daughter and son-in-law, Brenda Wimmer and Ted Godwin of Floyd; his granddaughter, Amanda Sward and husband, Greg of San Francisco, Calif; his brothers, Newton, Wilbur and Colonel Wimmer; his sister, Athleen Cando; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at Copper Hill Church of the Brethren Friday, June 2, 2000 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dale Bowman and the Rev. Douglas Jones officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel. on June 2, 2000.9

She was the pillar of strength, guidance and support of her husband of forty years and to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy and a twinkle to her eye. To her, worldly possessions meant little. Her greatest possessions were times spent with her family, both in adversity as well as joy. She leaves many survivors and devoted friends as she goes to spend eternity with her Lord. Surviving are her husband, Herman L. Guilliams; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman E. and Donna Jackson Richards, Vinton, James Richards, San Francisco, Calif., Roger and Marie Richards, Bassett, Donnie Richards, Martinsville and Jimmy Lee Guilliams, Callaway; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gallew, Sanford, N.C., Sandra and Mike Donovant, Spencer, Debbie and Kenny Meador, Wirtz, Donna and Jeff Adkins, Chatham, Lisa and Ivy Jay Layman, III, Ferrum and Delores and Mike Agee, Rocky Mount; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Gordon Nichols, New Orleans, La., Burton Nichols, Roanoke and Robert Nichols, Troutville; sisters, Tressie Sigmon, Salem, Flossie Moran, Norfolk, Annie Moran and Shirley Mauk, both of Copper Hill; several nieces and nephews also survive. Interment will follow in the Callaway Community Cemetery. on December 16, 1995.1

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Salem Church (Head of the River) with Elder Hale Terry officiating. Interment in Restvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home. on January 1, 1999.4

Surviving are his children, Carol Hodges and husband, Marshall, James Craighead and wife, Lilly, Everette Craighead and wife, Patricia, Gene Craighead and wife, Joy Ann, and Linda Craighead; grandchildren, Ronnie and Patricia Hodges, Donald and Susie Lee Hodges, Janice and Rickey Clingenpeel, Amanda and Chris Clayton, Lori and Walter Berry, Scott and Teresa Craighead, Brent and Carole Craighead, Tisha and Brian Wilson, Timmy and Rissa Craighead, Chris and Vicki Craighead, Amy Craighead; stepgrandchildren, Simone and Shelia Heckman, Carol and Benjamin Harrison, III, Tony and Sherry Musik, Scott and Judy Musik; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Ryan and Shannon Clingenpeel, Cameron, Alix and Morgan Bowles, Austin, Clayton, Marissa and Dalton Grubb, Mavis and Erica Hodges, Danielle and Cory, Christa and Isiah; step-great-grandchildren, Victoria and Tyler, Chris and Jennifer; a sister, Alda Hodges; brothers and sisters-in-law, Moyer and Esta Craighead, Elizabethtown, Pa., Sherman and Carmen Craighead of Callaway; half sisters, Pearl Gardner and husband, Horace of Sydnorsville and Gladys Webster and husband, Tinsley of Boones Mill; special friends, Kenneth Beckner, Rayford Bowman, and Steven Grubb; special caregivers, Tammy Stump, Sandra Mitchell, and Beulah Webb.
