Thomas P. Jones officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery at Gering. Howell died Saturday, Oct. 27, 1990 at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A memorial has been established for his daughter. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. He was born Jan 11, 1965, at Scottsbluff to Darnell and Gayle (Overton) Howell. He grew up and received his early education in Gering and graduated from high school in Lincoln. Survivors include his daughter, Ashley Nicole Howell, Houston, Texas; his parents of Gering; brothers James of Everett, Wash., and Jeffrey of Oklahoma City, Okla; sisters Janet Howell of Rapid City, S.D., Jeane Warfield of Alliance, Julie Ballinger of Gering and Jodell Hefley of Lincoln; and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Deines of Riley Kan., and Dorothy Yoakum of Hemingford. on October 31, 1990.⁴

     Larry Dean Overton was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Morrill, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.¹ He was born on August 8, 1937 at Alliance, Box Butte Co., Nebraska.^2,1 He married Geraldine Dickerson on August 30, 1959 at Morrill, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.^6,1 Larry Dean Overton died on November 21, 2020 at Brush, Morgan Co., Colorado, at age 83.¹ He Larry D. Overton, 83, longtime music educator in the Fort Morgan School District, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born August 8, 1937, in Alliance, NE to Clarence & Dorothy Overton. Larry married Geraldine Dickinson on August 30, 1959. In 1960 he graduated from Chadron State College with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. He later earned a Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He taught band in Madison, Nebraska after graduating in 1960 and then in 1964 he started his 35-year career in Fort Morgan, retiring in 1999. He initially taught both band and orchestra in Fort Morgan and later concentrated on the orchestra program in the Fort Morgan School District teaching 4th and 5th graders as well as the High School Program. He also filled the rest of his evenings giving private lessons, working with the High School Chamber Orchestra and the annual Musical Pit Orchestra. He served as a music adjudicator for CHSSA for 21 years. He also served as choir director at both the United Methodist Church and the United Presbyterian Church for a total of 19 years. Larry received the rare honor of being inducted into the CHSAA Hall of Fame as a music educator and is also a member of the Chadron State College Music Teacher's Hall of Fame. He enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, spending time at his cabin in Red Feather Lakes, fishing and bird hunting. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and was an avid Cornhusker Fan. Survivors include his three sons and their families, Mike (Christie) of Boone, IA; Dan (Tara) of Fort Collins, CO, Alan (Amy) of Windsor, CO; 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 1 sister, Gayle, and his parents. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 10:00 AM at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church. It will also be available on United Methodist Church Facebook Live. Concluding Services and interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill, NE at 3:00 PM. on November 27, 2020.¹

     Geraldine Dickerson was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Morrill, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.¹ Her Social Security Number was 508-48-9544.³ She was born on March 6, 1940 at Scottsbluff, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.^3,1 She married Larry Dean Overton, son of Clarence Lloyd Overton and Dorothy Iola Leiter, on August 30, 1959 at Morrill, Scotts Bluff Co., Nebraska.^1,2 As of August 30, 1959,her married name was Overton.¹ Geraldine Dickerson died on March 13, 2002 at Denver, Denver Co., Colorado, at age 62.^3,1 She Geraldine Overton, 62, of Fort Morgan, Colo., died Wednesday, March 13, at Swedish Medical Center in Denver after suffering a ruptured aneurysm on Tuesday. Funeral services were March 18 at the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church. Concluding services and interment were March 19 at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary of Fort Morgan is in charge of arrangements. A memorial has been established for the Fort Morgan United Methodist Women's Group. She was born March 6, 1940, in Scottsbluff to Gerry & Roberta Dickinson. She married Larry Overton on Aug. 30, 1959, in Morrill. The Overton family moved to Fort Morgan in 1964. Mrs. Overton enjoyed reading, gardening, playing the piano and writing poetry. She had several of her poems published and won a first place award for a poem by the National Poet Society. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. She was an active member of the Fort Morgan United Methodist Church and served as president of the United Methodist Womens Group and was a state representative to the UMW. She was also a member of PEO Chapter S. At the time of her death, Geraldine worked as a substitute teacher for the RE-3 School District in Fort Morgan. She was also a member of the Fort Morgan, Colorado and National Education Associations. She was preceded in death by one brother and her father. Survivors include her husband, Larry, of Fort Morgan; son, Michael of Boone, Iowa; son, Daniel of Windsor, Colo; son, Alan of Eaton, Colo; mother, Roberta Dickinson of Morrill; sister, Sharon Karnes of Morrison, Colo; sister, Doris MacDonald of Scottsbluff and seven grandchildren. on March 20, 2002.¹
