Mr. Pugh served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was Manager at Magic City Ford Used Car Department for many many years before retiring and running his own dealership the Kar Korral on Williamson Road, Roanoke. He was also a Master Mason of Lakeland Masonic Lodge 190, Roanoke. During his spare time he loved to putter and garden on his farm in Copper Hill. A very loving father, brother, and friend who is going to be missed by all. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Debra Layman and husband, Jon of Roanoke, Va., Pamela Hatter and husband, Matthew of Troutville, Va; sisters, Mary Board and husband, Allen of Roanoke, Va., Kathryn Naff of Ohio; his best companion, Banks Conner of Roanoke; brother and sisters-in-law, Wesley and Evelyn Conner of Roanoke, and Louise Conner. Along with a host of other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia Society in Mr. Pugh's name. A funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 18, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Austin officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on March 16, 2019.3

Interment will be in the Aldridge Family Cemetery (next to the Old Copper Hill Methodist Church). The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sat. at Wood Funeral Home. on March 29, 2002.1

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for over 30 years and past president of two clubs. He was always an active church member. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Oliver Carr and Beatrice Woodward Carr; sister, Claudine Carr Graham; and brother, Glenwood Carr. Surviving are his wife of 55 wonderful years, Cornelia Brown Carr of Roanoke County; daughters, Marcia Carlan of Collierville, Tenn. and Janet C. DeSha of Nashville, Tenn; two grandsons, Joshua Carlan of Collierville, Tenn. and Derek DeSha of Nashville, Tenn; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Carilion Cancer and Rehab Center and a special niece, Cecilia Hall. on June 3, 2006.3

He was born July 15, 1934, in Floyd Co., Virginia, the son of the late John Oliver and Beatrice Woodward Carr. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Wayne Hills United Methodist Church, and Waynesboro Elks Lodge No. 2270 for 23 years, where he served as Exalted Ruler for two terms and presently served as trustee. He served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and was a past member of the United Way Foundation. He retired as manager from Kroger of Waynesboro with 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Claudine Graham. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sara Cook Carr; a son Glenwood "Woody" Carr, Jr. and his wife, Susan Reid-Carr of Midlothian; one daughter, Suzanne Carr Ramey and her husband D.C. of Mebane, N.C; one brother, Raymond Carr of Roanoke; and five grandchildren, Morgan Carr, Austin Carr, Hunter Carr, Sydney Ramey and Charlie Ramey. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service by Pastor Debra Copeland. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery with rites conducted by Waynesboro Elks Lodge 2270. Active pallbearers will be Frank Roetto, Tom Bryant, Freddie Abshire, Ed Croft, Bobby Hull, Jim Goode, Carl Simmers and Harry Quick. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Waynesboro Elks Lodge No. 2270 and members of the Men's Club of Wayne Hills United Methodist Church. on May 19, 2004.1
