He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene McNeil Wimmer, a son J. E. Wimmer, sister, Marie Wimmer and brothers, Lamer, Harless and Wesley Wimmer. His surviving family includes his daughter, Margaret Gearhart and her husband Larry; son, Cline Wimmer and wife Diane; grandchildren, Melissa Collins and husband Neil, Chad Gearhart, Stacy Mann and husband James, Jennifer Wimmer; great-grandchildren, Torri Bower and Evan Mann; stepgrandchildren, B. J. Chafin and wife Connie, Matthew Chafin; stepgreatgrandchildren, Drew Chafin and Caileigh Chafin; sisters, Daphne McNeil, Lois Epperly and Dorothy Meredith and husband Lewis, brother, Ray Wimmer and wife, Marie June. The family suggest that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Huffville United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Huffville Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Stan Clower, 1246 Huffville Road, Pilot, VA 24138. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Monday, July 2 2007, at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, VA. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the Huffville United Methodist Church, Floyd County, conducted by Pastor Dan Walker, Rev. Richard H. Horne and Pastor Leon Alley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delbert Keen Walters; and brother, H. C. (Trick) Link. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Jean Walters of Radford, Tommy and Linda Walters of Floyd, and Bobby and JoAnn Walters of Hardy; sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Fred Nichols of Troutville, Etta Mae and Herman Hall of Mechanicsville, Catherine Vest of Floyd, and Pauline Reed of Check; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank several people for their loving care of Mrs. Walters: the kind and loving staff at Skyline Manor, Carolyn McPeak for all the dedication given to our mother, neighbor Hubert Harman for all of his visits, and to all the friends for all their love and prayers. A Graveside service will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Wilson Cemetery in Check with Rev. Marty Moyer and Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Following the service, the family will gather at the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren to fellowship with friends and neighbors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Copper Hill Church of the Brethren, 8838 Floyd Highway North, Copperhill, VA 24079. The Walters family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford. on March 13, 2014.2
