Mrs. Vest was twice married her first husband being Thomas P. King and to this union were born six children, all of whom survive. They are Mrs. Harry Young, Crumpler, WV; H. W. King, McComas, WV; Mrs. E. M. Charlton and Mrs. W. E. Atkinson of Roanoke; Mrs. Z. T. Carr and Mrs. Glynn King Creasey of Pilot and a brother Joe Board of Roanoke. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Methodist church for 40 years. On Feb. 3 rd 1926 she was married to C. W. Vest, who also survives. Funeral services were conducted at Smith Chapel, Locust Grove by her pastor, Rev. S. E. Fridley, assisted by Rev. N. A. Conner and Elder J. M. Dickerson. Songs were sung by the Check High School. Burial was in the Wilson Cemetery. Active pallbearers were her grandsons; S. S. Carr, C. P. Carr, A. C. Carr, Edward Young, Harry Young, Jr., and her son H. W. king. The flower girls were her grandchildren. The floral offerings were neumerous and beautiful attesting to the high esteem in which she was held. on February 10, 1944.4

Left to cherish his precious memory are two sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Margaret Sowers, of Roanoke, and Junior and Katherine Sowers, of Floyd; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Ricky Richardson, of Hillsville; and a daughter-in-law, Susan Sowers, of Hillsville. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Ilene Sowers, of Christiansburg; a sister, Glada Hale, of Copper Hill; sisters-in-law, Elvie and Vera Sowers; grandchildren, Delta, Sara, Daniel, Steven Wayne, D.J., Joshua and Earl; along with four greatgranddaughters will forever have fond memories of their PaPa Tom. A service to celebrate Tom's life will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mitchell Floyd and Pastor Larry Phillips officiating. Moore Sr. She is survived by her children, Susan Huff and husband, Sandy, Terri Lewis and husband, Tom, Paul Moore Jr. and wife, Melody, all of Roanoke; her grandchildren, Erin Moore and Brian Proctor, Samuel "Sandy" Huff, Trisha Martin and husband, Brandon, Alan Moore and wife, Amber, Traci Hickman and husband, Josh, and Scott Huff; her great-grandchildren, Savannah and Haleigh Martin, and Easton Hickman; her sister, Eleanor Whitlock and husband, Lewis Wayne of Floyd County; her brother, Russell Ingram of Floyd County; a brother-in-law, Earl Moore and wife, Barbara of Roanoke; and several nieces and nephews. A service celebrating her life will be held at noon on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Grandin Court Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Kevin Meadows and the Rev. Charles Krause officiating. Interment will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016, at Oakey's South Chapel. William Heinemann of Roanoke, Kendall M. VanHoose and S. Conner VanHoose, of Alexandria, Va., Laura A. Koontz of Aylett, Va; one stepgrandson, Michael D.
