Palmer and wife, Clair of Howardsville, and Cherese A. Palmer of Ruckersville; two foster sons, Neal Porter and James Wisnikwske, of Maryland; 11 grandchildren, Sherry Palmer and Wayne M. Palmer of Maryland, Keaiani Schmitt and Lucas R. McCandliss of Hawaii, Eugene L. Palmer III of Alabama, Christine A. Cason, Crystal M. Hines and Jonathon W Hines, of Virginia; three step-grandchildren, Norma J. Wise and Craig Gibson, of Virginia, and Danny Coffee of Maryland; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Horton and Madie Alls; two brothers, Owen Palmer and Bill Palmer; 10 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray, Betty, Jean, Alfred, Donald, Judy, Billy, Charlie, Bob and Annie; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Palmer was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, CPL. Palmer received five Bronze Stars. He was a life member of VFW, a child of Christ and saved by grace. Interment in Culpeper National Cemetery. on December 17, 2002.⁷
