Surviving to cherish his memory and rejoice in his life are his wife, Thelma Clark Richards Steber; children and their spouses who he also loved as his own, Wanda and William "Jack" Jackson, Priscilla and Michael Agee, Sue and Danny Richards, all of Roanoke County; sisters and brother and their spouses, Elizabeth Dooley, Bernice and Ellis Hall, Louie Mae Thomas, all of Roanoke, Gail and Jesse Hancock of Roanoke County, Herbert and Margaret Steber of Salem; sister-in-law Martha Steber of Vinton; grandchildren and spouses, Angela and Mark Dean, Christine Tucker and special friend Robin Bennett, Troy Chocklett and special friend Tracey Dudley, Greg and Mary Chocklett, Ronnie and Tonya Agee, Daniel and Tammy Richards, Tony and Pam Richards and Michael Richards; great-grandchildren Kassondra and Alixandra Dean, Chance and Kaylan Dudley, Baby Chocklett, Danielle, Kaitlyn, Grant and Hayley Richards, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Born in New Castle, Va. on May 19, 1919, Bob was a friend to all who knew him. He began his working career as a mechanic. During WWII he served in the Air Force in Khartoum, Egypt and Cairo, Nigeria as an airplane mechanic. He used his skills after the war for many years as a business owner in Roanoke and the surrounding areas. During this time he raised his family and when needed, provided jobs for his family and friends. In 1969 he became a Deputy in the Roanoke County Sheriff's Department and advanced to the rank of Sargeant. He was appointed Chief Bailiff of the Roanoke County Circuit Court and remained in that position until his retirement. Bob loved baseball and played in the minor leagues as a left handed pitcher. He also loved to hunt and fish and drove a race car with Curtis Turner and other noted drivers. He later built race cars for others to drive at area tracts. Bob was a skilled musician and songwriter. He loved to have his family and friends around him to play music and sing. Bob was a longtime member of the Clearbrook Community, serving as fire captain for several years and repairing fire equipment. He was a longtime member of Red Hill Baptist Church and a current beloved member of the Lighthouse Brethren Church in Roanoke County. Bob was a very special person who will be remembered for his love of the Lord, family and friends. Although there is no doubt that he is with his Father in heaven, he will be greatly missed. Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 11, 2003 at Oakey's South Chapel, Brambleton Ave., Roanoke, Va. with Rev. Lester Reed and Rev. James Jordan officiating. Interment will be held at Franklin Memorial Park, Franklin Co., Va. A Remembrance Gathering will be held after interment in the Fellowship Hall of Red Hill Baptist Church, Franklin Rd., Rt. 220 South, for all who wish to attend. Flowers will be cherished as would donations in his memory to the Lighthouse Brethren Church, C / O Lester Reed, 2427 Vancouver Dr. N.W., Roanoke, Va. 24012. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Oakey's South Chapel, 989-3131.

Born June 28, 1918, Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Addie C. Austin and his two sons, Frank W. Austin and George L. Austin. He leaves behind his loving and devoted grandchildren, Julie and Tony Croft, and Steve and Evelyn Austin; two great-grandchildren who he loved dearly, Brittany and Nicole Austin; daughter-in-law, Carol Austin; sister, Pauline Terry; two special nieces, Martha Mattox and Patsy Whiting; and one special nephew Ronney Price; also many more special nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mr. Austin was a devoted member of the New Castle Christian Church where he held the honor of elder emeritus. He had a deep faith in the Lord and his fellow man. He served as a proud member in the United States Army during World War II and he was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp or CCC's. Mr. Austin was retired from the Army Ammunition Plant. Mr. Austin always found the best qualities in everyone and he will always be an inspiration to all who knew and loved him. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2004, at the New Castle Christian Church with Dr. Ernie Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Huffman Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Paitsel Funeral Home, New Castle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Craig County Rescue Squad, PO Box 81 New Castle, Va. 24127 or to a charity of your choice. on August 11, 2004.1

More recently, she had been activity director at a nursing home in San Juan, Tx. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Conner. Surviving is her husband, Carl V. Ginder; sons, Bevin, Lindale, Texas, Barry and wife Cathy, Yorkhaven, Pa., Brian and wife, Shanna, Mission, Texas; one granddaughter; brothers, Clyde Conner, Riner, Va., Doug Conner and Joe Conner, both of Salem, VA; sisters, Ava Ebersole, Mechanicsburg, Pa., Ester Kiser, Salem, Va., Wanda Minnick, Harrisburg, Pa; also surviving are her parents, Ruth Conner of Salem, Va. and Raymond Conner of Roanoke, Va. Interment will follow at Wilson Cemetery, Floyd, Va. on December 28, 1994.7
