Hasseltine Vernelle "Tina" "Tennie" Conner Hasseltine "Tennie" Conner Funk, Oct 8, 1931 - Nov 16, 2024. It is with great sadness that the family of Hasseltine "Tennie" Conner Funk of Roanoke County, VA, announce her passing on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at home with family by her side at the age of 93. She had struggled with dementia and other health issues for several years; she fought the fight, but the Lord sent an angel to carry her home to be with the Lord, reunite with family and friends. Born in Roanoke, she was the fifth of seven children born to William Alvin Fletcher Conner and Ida Stanley Conner. She attended William Byrd High School where she met her husband, Guy Funk, who had returned home from military service. They were married at the end of her junior year of June 12, 1948, and then began her 40 plus year career with The Kroger Company until her retirement in 1991. During this time, she always put her family and the Lord first, still finding time to support her children in their interests and activities. She is survived by her children, Deborah F. McDaniel (Richard) of Boones Mill, Bruce V. Funk (Donna) of Hardy, and Jennifer F. Gayle (Billy) of Roanoke; grandchildren, Travis McDaniel of South Carolina, Whitney Cummins (Tom) of Maryland, Lindsay of Boones Mill, Matthew Funk (Wendy) and Caleb Taylor of Christiansburg, and Melody Dean (Charlie) of Roanoke; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Toby, Declan, Clare, Michayla, Colin, Stella, Josie, and her precious great-grandchild, Kasim; a brother, Galen Conner (Laura) and; Becky Conner (sister-in-law), all of Vinton; and numerous nephews; nieces; and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Guy Vincen Funk; and siblings and their spouses, Alvin Conner (Marie), Pauline Main (Hugh), Bobby Conner, Annie Thacker (Charles) and their son, C. Michael Thacker. She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant Church, serving wherever she was needed. After Guy's death, the Lord led her to start a food ministry for bereaved families at the church which she did with enthusiasm. She was blessed with many talents. She was a seamstress, quilter, painter, and taught ceramics in her home for years and had a beautiful, gifted alto voice which she shared with others in nursing homes, church and family gatherings. She was an excellent cook, just like her mother and sisters! The entire Conner family feasted on the dishes prepared by the family at a cookout, held annually at the Funk's house. She played a supporting role in helping to prepare meals for Sunday school classes, APCO, and friends. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Christian Women's Club, P. Buckley Moss Society, and the Vinton Seniors where she continued making ceramics for family and friends. She loved traveling with her husband up and down the east coast, and wherever else the bus would take them; she was ready to go! She had a special love for animals, taking in stray cats, finding homes for them all, treating the horses and donkeys on the property with food she had brought home from the store. When they heard her coming up the driveway, they would be waiting at the fence for her. Tennie was a servant, in all respects. She served her church, community and her family. She was always there when needed. She tirelessly served as her husband's caregiver for 10 years in their home until his passing. It was during this time, she told the family she wanted to die at home, and her wish was granted. She will always be remembered for her remarkable strength, strong-will, determination, generosity, independence, relentless spirit, and love for her family. Burial to follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.7 She was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, 1300 Mountain View Road, Vinton, Roanoke Co., Virginia.7 She was born on October 8, 1931 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.6,11,7 As of June 12, 1948,her married name was Funk.5 She married Guy Vincen Funk on June 12, 1948 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.1,2,12,3,4,5,6,7 Hasseltine Vernelle "Tina" "Tennie" Conner died on November 16, 2024 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 93.7

Raleigh - Regina Boggess Conner, beloved mother, aunt and GiGi to her adoring grandchildren and friends, slipped away in her sleep to be with her Lord on August 24th, 2015. To know Regina was to bask in the glow and warmth of her sunny disposition. Elegant in every way, Regina had a distinctive style – it was always a treat to see her and to be with her. A strong woman, she was an example to us all; embracing life’s blessings with gratefulness and facing the challenges with grace. Regina taught us to always put our best foot forward, preferably in a snazzy shoe! She was a fabulous listener, and her charming laughter was your reward for a story well told. A deeply compassionate person, she was as wise as she was kind. Being on the receiving end of her gaze with her knowing baby-blues was such good luck because you just knew she was on your side. Born in Vinton, Virginia to the late Talmadge and Grace Boggess, Regina married her high school sweetheart William (Bill) A.F. Conner in 1950. Happily married for 56 years, they raised three daughters together in Raleigh, NC. Bill predeceased Regina in 2007. Devoted to her family, Regina also found time to support her church family and community. Regina leaves behind her biggest fan base, her daughters Andrea (Tony) Page, Melanie (Dan) Conner-Campbell and Kimberly Dee, “K-Dee” (Chris) Leith. GiGi will be remembered with love and devotion by her grandchildren Amanda Conner Wicker (Eric), Caitlin Grace Leith, Christopher Conner Leith, and great-granddaughter Catherine Carmody Wicker, all of whom were the center of her universe. Regina is also survived by her dear and loyal friend, Gwen Bush. Even though we will miss her, she has given us years of unconditional love, laughter and guidance, as well as the con?dence to help us navigate this astounding loss in our lives. We will hold close in our hearts the sound of Regina’s voice, the sound of her laughter, and her keen and often witty insights on dealing with life’s vicissitudes. on August 30, 2015.3
