Otto Dulaney, 99, 418 Washington, formerly of 3633 Orchard Rd, Quincy, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at 9:26 p.m. at Sunset home. She was born December 25, 1910 in Pollock, Missouri, the daughter of Pearl Davis and Hazel Dwyer Otto. They moved to Quincy when she was about 2 years old. On June 6, 1937, she married Douglas A. Dulaney in Quincy, IL. He died December 30, 1999. Mrs. Dulaney was a member of the First Christian Church from the time she was a little girl, when the church was located at 9th and Broadway. She taught Sunday School there and was a member of the Carley Sunday School class, where she met Doug, her husband. She also was very involved in the Christian Women's Fellowship at the church. Mrs. Dulaney was a graduate of Quincy High School and Gem City Business College. She was very active with her QHS Alumni class of 1929. They diligently sent a Christmas letter to all classmates to keep in touch. Their last reunion was their 70th , held in 1999. After graduating from Gem City Business College, she worked at Beatrice Creamery and then in the office of Halbach Shroeder department store until her marriage in 1937. She became a life member of the PTA after serving on the PTA's of Ellington School, Quincy Junior High School, and Quincy High School. She was a charter member of The Great River Watercolor Society, often memorializing her travels and life in her paintings. She also was involved in the Adams County Home Bureau and was a 4H leader. Mr. and Mrs. Dulaney shared an interest in traveling and were former members of the Quincy Area Trailer Club. She was also a member of the Women's City Club, where she played cards for many years. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Bennett and her husband Don of Quincy; 3 sons, Steve Dulaney and his wife Janet of Larkspur, CO, Kent Dulaney and his wife Maxine of Algonquin, IL, Dave Dulaney of Quincy, and a daughter in law, Sue Dulaney of Maywood, MO; 9 grandchildren, Curt Bennett and his wife Stephanie of Quincy, Debbie Ernst and her husband John of Quincy, Kathy Oakley and her husband Hal of Quincy, Julie Southwick and her husband Jim of Union, KY, Scott Dulaney and his wife Cindy of Castle Rock, CO, Billy Joe Patterson of Mesa, AZ, Michael Dulaney of Bethesda, MD, Rick Dulaney of Schaumburg, IL, and Christine Dulaney of Seattle, WA; 10 great-grandchildren, Christopher Bennett, Dulaney Bennett, Alexandria Ernst, Olivia Ernst, Erica Ernst, Ben Oakley, Abigail Oakley, Allen Oakley, all of Quincy, Kaitlyn Southwick of Union, KY, and Wyatt Patterson of Mesa, AZ. She also is survived by a sister in law, Shirley Otto of Springfield, IL and a nephew, Bob Otto and his wife Carol of Lago Vista, TX. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Otto, and her son, Don Dulaney. Services: will be Saturday, September 25, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Rev. Tracy Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois. The body will remain at the mortuary until one hour before service when it will be taken to the church. on September 8, 1952.3

Smith, prominent Charleston attorney, died at her home "Bougemont" in South Hills Friday morning following a long illness. The body was removed to the Simpson mortuary. Mrs. Smith, a member of the Kanawha Presbyterian church, was widely known for her connection and work with many charities and organizations. Besides her time, Mrs. Smith, for many years, had donated large sums of money to support of charitable organizations. One of Mrs. Smith's close friends said Friday that "she was connected with so many organizations and charities that it's impossible to remember them all." She was a member of the board of directors of the Mason College of Music and Fine Arts. Mrs. Smith has been in ill health for several years and only recently returned to her South Hills home from spending the winter with her daughter, Mrs. George Fox, at Gainesville, Fla. Mr. Smith, one of state's most prominent attorneys, died last October. Mrs. Smith was the former Helen (should be Katherine) Dana Bowne, of Brooklyn, N.Y. After marriage in Brooklyn in 1896, Mr. Smith brought his bride to Charleston and they had made their home here ever since. Nearly 15 years ago, their home "Bougemont," one of the valley's most beautiful homes, was constructed. Besides the daughter, two other children survive. They are Harrison Bowne Smith of Charleston and Alexander Q. Smith who is in the U.S. army stationed at Salt Lake City. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. on June 4, 1943.5
