Earnestine was born on June 1st 1925 in Rock West Virginia. She was the daughter of Curtis Vest and Brookie Vest. She was raised with one sister, Janisse and one brother, James. She married Keith Parker in June of 1947. She and Keith built a home in Bluewell West Virginia where they lived together raising their two daughters. Earnestine was a stay at home mother raising her girls. Together they have 4 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Earnestine was an incredibly kind woman who loved her husband, friends, family, and church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and caring for her daughters and grandchildren. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Bluewell as well as the Women’s Missionary Union. One of the greatest things she loved was having a house full of loving family. In her latter years she was very grateful for the care given from Connie Martin, Tammy Kidd, Kim Matzel, as well as her son in law Donnie Dinger, and daughter Connie Dinger. Her husband, Keith, went to be with the Lord in 2012 after 64 years of marriage. She is survived by her two daughters, Connie Dinger and Ardena Witt, their husbands Donnie Dinger and Terry Witt, as well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens where Logan Surface, Brandon Elmore, Rod Roberts, Joe Dinger, Brayden Surface, Michael Prater, Tim Moody, and Grover White will serve as pallbearers. on January 28, 2019.4

He was born in Rock, W.Va., on March 9, 1925 and was the son of the late Edgar Parker and Gwen Lusk Parker of Browning Lambert Mountain in Montcalm, W.Va. He attended school in Matoka, W.Va., and a graduate of the University of West Virginia with a degree in Electrician. He also held degrees in water purification, mining safety, and construction. He served his country in the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a gunman and barber on a LST-694. He survived a typhoon and torpedo attack and was in the waters during the movement of the atomic bomb. He was awarded a silver star and decorated WWII Veteran that served in the Pacific Campaign. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Bluewell, W.Va. He helped construct Indian Meadows Resort in Pipestem, W.Va., and was the maintenance supervisor until he retired. He helped construct and build The Kirby Addition water system and retain management until it was sold to Bluewell PSD. His hobbies consist of gardening, politics, shopping (especially at flea markets), and taking pictures. He showed his appreciation by giving photographs of Key Dam to his family, friends, and caregivers which are displayed around the two Virginias. He was a proud "Papa" of his grandchildren and loved to play with his great grandchildren. Survivors include the love of his life for 64 years, Earnestine Janet Parker of Bluewell, W.Va; daughters, Karin Ardena Witt and husband, Terry of Bluewell, W.Va., and Connie Lynn Elmore of Bluewell, W.Va; brothers and sisters, Hershal Parker and deceased sister-in-law, Louis of Bluewell, W.Va., Evelyn Kruetz and deceased husband, Robert of Golden, Colo., Ardith Smith of Bluewell, W.Va. and deceased husband, Frank Smith of Newport Ritchy, Fla., Norman Parker and wife, Janet of Norfork, Va., and Arnold Parker and wife, of Browning Lambert Mountain; grandchildren, Heather Lee Surface of Bluefield, Va., Carrie Danielle Roberts and husband, Rob of Mechanicsville, Va., Brandon Tracy Elmore and wife, Delana of Wytheville, Va., and Michael Keith Prater of Bluewell, W.Va; great-grandchildren, Logan Bailee Surface and Brayden Parker Surface of Bluefield, Va, Ian Daniel Roberts and Parker Bailey Roberts of Mechanicsville, Va., and Donovan Wade Elmore of Wytheville, Va. He was born in Princeton and was a son of the late Fred King Cline and Myrtle Mae Gross Cline. He was a member of the Graham Christian Church in Bluefield, Va., where he was past Treasurer, Elder and Deacon. He was past Treasurer of the Christian Men's Fellowship and was a member and Quarter Master of the Bluefield, Va. VFW Memorial Post 9696. He served in the reserves from Feb. 12, 1952 until May 1, 1958 and came out as Master Sergeant. After his discharge he worked for Georgia Lumber Company as assistant secretary and treasurer and later worked from May 28, 1956 until Nov. 19, 1986 for Bluefield Supply Company as payroll manager. He then worked for Rish Equipment Company for three years, where he retired. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hubert Arnold Cline and Harold Mason Cline. He is survived by his wife, Joe Davis Cline; daughter, Janet Darlene Meadows and husband, Ronnie, of Bluefield, W.Va; son, James David Cline and wife, Becky, of Siler City, N.C; brother, Marvin Fred Cline and wife, Rosa, of Princeton, W.Va; grandchildren, Sheila Lusk of Virginia Beach, Va., Jimmy Cline and wife, Kelly, of Colorado, Sherry Jones and husband, Mark, of Burkburnett, Texas, Terry Harrington and husband, Jeff, of North Carolina, Rhonda Helmandollar of Redmond, Ore; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Graveside services will be conducted by the Bluefield, Va. VFW Memorial Post and the Pocahontas American Legion Post 14. on October 4, 2012.2

He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Princeton, a former member and Sunday school teacher of the Free Methodist Church, former superintendent at the Upper Room Church, a member of the United Mine Worker's of America, and a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, one son, Steven Branscome; one daughter, Kimberly Branscome; and one sister, Doris Griffith preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Ruth Ann Ellis Branscome of Princeton; one son, Duane Branscome and wife Deborah of Princeton; two daughters, Lisa Blankenship and Karla Carter and husband Carl of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Christopher Branscome, Anthony Albert, Adam Branscome, Kerri Lynn Hall, Tyler Romeo, Jordan Carter, and Evan Carter; five great-grandchildren, Dakota Branscome, Jessica Kessler, Kameron Albert, Brennen Branscome, and Jonathan Hall; four brothers, Bill Branscome and wife Maxine of Richmond, Va., Charles "Buck" Branscome and wife Edith of Princeton, Roscoe Branscome and wife Pauline of Greensboro, N.C. and Joseph Branscome of Princeton; and two sisters, Jane Arrington and Barbara Hughes and husband Jim all of Princeton.      Charles George "Buck" Branscome Charles G. "Buck" Branscome, 81, of Butternut Avenue, Princeton, died peacefully, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. Born, August 2, 1940, in Rock, WV, he was the son of the late Edwin Goble Branscome and Aline Vest Branscome. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Buck served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Buck was a new born Christian having given his heart to the Lord on April 5, 2022. He also was a member of the Princeton Elks #1459 at Glenwood, where he was an avid golfer. Other than golfing, he enjoyed being in the outdoors but most of all being with his family. Buck worked hard all his life and retired from APCO with over 31 years of service as a Line Crew Supervisor. After retirement from APCO, he helped his son-in-law, in his business Industrial Fasteners selling bolts and miscellaneous supplies for the mines for 19 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin G. "Buddy" Branscome, Jr., two sisters, Doris Griffith and Barbara Hughes. Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Edith Davidson Branscome; One daughter, Kathy Walker and husband Jim, of Flat Top, WV; Two grandchildren, Austin Walker of Raleigh, NC and Ashley Walker of Flat Top, WV; Two great-grandchildren, Josey and Ridge; One sister, Jane Arrington; Three brothers, Roscoe Branscome and wife Linda, Joe Branscome and Bill Branscome and wife Maxine; Two special great-great nieces, Presley and Olivia Harman and several other nieces, nephews and former co-workers also survive.4 He was born on August 2, 1940 at Rock, Mercer Co., West Virginia.2,4 He married Edith Faye Davidson on October 10, 1964 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.2,4 Charles George "Buck" Branscome died on May 7, 2022 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 81.4

She was known as “Polly” to all who knew and loved her and as “Maw Maw" to all of her grandchildren who she kept until they started Kindergarten and on every school holiday and their summer breaks from school. She loved her family and spent all of her time making sure they were well-fed and they knew she loved them. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas “Dougie” Roscoe Branscome Jr. and her parents, Ernest and Nora Beckner; one sister, Helen Hedrick; and three brothers, Bob Beckner, Buddy Beckner and Wayne Beckner. Surviving are her loving husband, Douglas “Ross” Branscome Sr., of the home; one daughter, Karen Branscome Saddler and husband Dan; two sons, Roy Branscome and wife, Miranda, and David Branscome, and wife Amy; seven grandchildren, Kati, Karen, Aaron, Kelly, Nicholas, and Haileigh, of Kernersville, and Derick Barlow of Bluewell, West Virginia; two brothers, Frank Beckner, and wife Janice, of Wilmington and Kenny Beckner, and very special friend Vickie Salyers of Princeton, West Virginia; two sisters, Ruth Combs of Beason, W.Va., and Eloise O’Donell and husband, Lawrence, of Montcalm, West Virginia. The famiiy would like to thank the staff of Hospice, Dr. Harrish and Nurse Dee for their concern. They all had a special place in our Mom’s heart. on October 17, 2009.3 She died on October 18, 2009 at Forsyth Co., North Carolina, at age 62.3

     Garland Clay "Jack" Fentress Garland C. Fentress (Jack), 91, of Pungo, died on August 13th. He was born on October 15, 1922 in Princess Anne County. He was the son of the late John W. Fentress and Alline Flanagan Fentress. He is predeceased by his wife, Frances (Fritz) Fentress and his sister, Laura Frances (Peggy) Tillman. He was a kind and caring man who thought of others before himself. A man of strong faith who loved his family and truly loved God. He was a member of Charity United Methodist Church, Princess Anne Masonic Lodge #25, VFW Post #1211, Natural Resource Pilot's Association and Virginia State Police Association. He served in the South Pacific during WWII in the US Coast Guard. He was a lifetime farmer who grew some of the best sweet potatoes in Pungo. He served a short time in the Fort Story Fire Department and briefly as the Post Master at the Princess Anne Courthouse office. He was retired from the Virginia State Game Commission, where he served as a Game Warden and a pilot. He was affectionally known as the "Flying Game Warden". He is survived by his son, Daniel Fentress and his wife Pam, his daughter, Michelle Stilson and her husband Ronnie. Also four grandchildren, Joshua Fentress and his wife Becky, Erin Gaylord and her husband, Travis, Wesley Stilson and his wife, Rochelle, and Jamie Boyer and her husband Ricardo and 5 great-grandchildren.      Dillard Garlin Mills Dillard Garlin Mills, 86, of Huntington, W.Va., died April 12, 2013, at Cabell Huntington Hospital with his sons by his side. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. Dillard was born June 21, 1926 in Barn, W.Va., a son of the late Charlie Winton and Florence McBride Mills. In addition to his parents, one sister, Nellie Mills and two brothers, Willard Mills and Delmer Mills, and his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth Maupin Mills, preceded him in death. He was a WWII veteran and served as an MP in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater. Obtaining a B.A. from Concord University and a M.A. from Marshall University in 1962, he served over 60 years in local, State and Federal service, finishing as a Health Facility Surveyor with the WV State Department of Health. Survivors include 4 sons and two daughters-in-law, Stanley Mills of Huntington, Garlin and Pam Mills of Palmyra, Va., Jeff and Erin Mills of Huntington and Craig Mills of Newtown Square, Pa. Dillard was a Master Mason, a lifelong member of Concord Lodge No 48, in Athens, W.Va., and the National Rehabilitation Association. He was a member of the Norwood Free Methodist Church. Born March 11, 1907 in Wayside, he was the widower of Bernice Vest Parker and the son of the late L.B. and Mattie Ella Nelson Parker. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years and will be greatly missed. He was a 1928 graduate of Athens High School, a 1934 education graduate of Concord College, and received his master's degree at West Virginia University in 1942. He worked as an educator and principal until his retirement in 1967. He also worked at Parker Brothers Store during this time and continued there until 1997. He was a life member and Past Worshipful Master of Concord Masonic Lodge #48 where he received a 50 year life member award in 1980 and 70 year recognition in 2000. He was also Past Priest of Athens Chapter #26, Royal Arch Masons. In 1999 the Town of Athens recognized him with the Elder Citizen Award. In addition to his wife and parents, four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Fritzi Fentress and husband, Jack of Virginia Beach, Va., Elizabeth Mills and husband, Dillard of Huntington, and Jack Burroughs and husband, Joe of Virginia Beach; two sons, Joe Parker of Athens and Jerry Parker of Charleston; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Alvis of Athens; one brother, Fred Parker of Athens; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Burial will follow at the Athens Cemetery with Concord Masonic Lodge #78 conducting graveside rites. on December 30, 2001.1
