Kermit and Lucy Holcomb and by his wife of 61 years, Sherry McGhee Holcomb; son, Neil Holcomb; grandson, Daniel Buckner, brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Nancy Holcomb; brother, Glennis Holcomb; sister, Carmel Powell; sister and brother-in-law, Freeda and Randolph Brown. Surviving are his children, Kenneth W. Holcomb Jr. (Barbara), Sarah Campbell (Kenny Weddle), Reggie McGhee (Jenny) and Mearl Boswell (Lee); grandchildren, Blake Holcomb (Katie), Beth Cummings (Lee), Kimberly Holcomb, Haley McGhee, Vandalina Holcomb, Lenzie Boswell, Emily Boswell; three great-grandchildren, Eva Holcomb, Emma Holcomb and Lyla Cummings; brother and sister-in-law, DL and Bobbie Holcomb; sister-in-law, Shirley Holcomb; brother-in-law, Jim Powell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Robertson (Junior). Thanks to his many friends in the neighborhood. He was a member of the Fork Mountain United Methodist Church. Wayne was a home improvement contractor and co-founder of Fork Mountain Adult Home with his wife Sherry. He was born March 28, 1929 a son of the late Stafford Brown and Florence Tedder Brown. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Freeda Holcomb Brown; children, Charles R. Brown, Jr. (Peggy), Don A. Brown, Carl W. Brown, Susan B. Rea (Terry), and Linda B. Davis (Mike); two grandsons, Bobby Rea (Stephanie), Stephen Brown; great-grandson, Ethan Rea; sister, Lois B. Purdy; brother, Luther Brown; sister-in-law, Dyanne Brown; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Randolph served with the US Army during the Korean War in the 43rd infantry division. He retired from DuPont as a T.A. with 38 years of service. He was a very active member of Fork Mountain United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was Superintendent of Sunday School and held many other positions. He was also a lifetime member of the Fork Mountain Rescue Squad. The family extends a sincere thanks to Fork Mountain Rest Home for taking such good care of Randolph. Smith; daughters, LuAnn (Gary) Smith of Roanoke, and Serena Jacobs (Donald) of Copper Hill; stepgrandsons, Devin and Derek (Angela) Jacobs; stepgreat-granddaughter, Journee Jacobs; niece, Marcia Hollins Babb (Robert) of Apex, N.C. She is also survived by brothers-in-law, Herbert (Alice) Smith of Roanoke, and Ray (Diann) Smith of Copper Hill; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Curran of Florida, and Ocie Smith of Colorado; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Smith of Roanoke; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was an amazing crafter and can well be remembered as a long time exhibitor at the Floyd County Arts and Crafts Festival. She always had that familiar smile on her face, even through her last days. Interment will follow in Restvale Cemetery. Many thanks to all who kept Helen Sue in your thoughts and prayers. After retirement, Mr. Hollins worked for Greensboro Day School for 15 years. He loved the children that rode his bus and loved all of those he had the joy and privilege of working with at the school. Mr. Hollins loved the church and all those he served with, both the ministers and the church families, at the old Asheboro Street Baptist Church and the Lawndale Baptist Church, where he was a member at his passing. The family gratefully thanks Dr. Shen and his associates and the medical staff of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Hospice of Greensboro for their kind and compassionate care. Mr. Hollins is survived by his wife, Virginia B. Hollins; his daughters, Virginia Anne Phillips and husband, Rev. N. R.B. owned his own business, Edgewood Cabinets, and hand crafted many beautiful cabinets for so many people in Floyd and around surrounding areas. He could always be found at the Floyd County Arts and Crafts Festival with Helen Sue and her crafts displaying his wooden toys, birdhouses, and boxes. R.B. always had a sharp wit about him, even through his last days. Many thanks to all who kept R.B in your thoughts and prayers. Tuck, Roanoke; her brother, Jackson L. and Evelyn Wimmer; sister-in-law, Kate Bowles, all of Roanoke; many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Virgie enjoyed quilting, gardening, and singing in the church choir. A special thank you to Snyder Nursing home staff and Dr. Nevin for all their loving care. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at the Copper Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery, Floyd. The family will receive friends Monday, November 14, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home in Floyd. Kate is survived by her daughter, Peggy Bowles Musselman, of Blue Ridge; granddaughters, Katherine Musselman Morck, of Goodview, and Shirl Musselman Garrett, of Salem; five great-grandchildren, Robert Morck and wife, Kelly, Billy Morck, Tommy, Stephanie and Spencer Garrett; and niece, Mrs. Helen Sue Smith and husband, R.B., of Copper Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents; and six brothers and sisters. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joey Phillips of Goodview Baptist Church and Chaplain Marvin Barbre of Good Samaritan Hospice officiating. Interment will be held 4 p.m. at Salem Church Cemetery (Head of the River) in Copper Hill, Va. The family would like to thank all of the special friends and caregivers that lovingly cared for Kate over the past two years, Candy, Cheryl, Della, Dennis, Dot and Buford, Jackie, June, Rhonda and Shirley.
