(Ginny) Hundley was reunited with the love of her life, her late husband of 56 years, William H. Hundley Jr. A native of Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late Robert Lester Shaw and Ruth May Shaw and a graduate of Jefferson High School, Class of 1948. She moved to Greensboro, N.C., in 1962 where she was a life-long member of Lawndale Baptist Church and worked alongside her husband in the retail furniture business. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her son, William H. Hundley III and his partner, Cindy Nash, of Greensboro, N.C; her sister, Ruby Dean Robertson, of Roanoke, Va; her niece, Sherry Lockhart; her grandchildren, Martin Hundley, Elliott Hundley and Cindy and Chris Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Haley Wilson and Kayla Wilson. on June 9, 2013.³

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Lawndale Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Dr. Joe Giaritelli officiating. He was a native of Fitzpatrick, W. Va., and was the son of the late William Hensley Hundley Sr., and Bessie Mae St. Clair Hundley. Mr.- Hundley was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II, where he earned 11 battle stars and a citation from Admiral Nimitz. He was a 32 nd degree Mason and a deacon at his church. He was a retired store manager with Tucker - Jones Furniture and was currently employed with Burtner Used Appliances. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Parsons and Jo Robertson. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Shaw Hundley; one son, William "Bill" Hensley Hundley III, and Cindy Nash of Greensboro; one brother, Dr. Ralph Hundley of Indianapolis, Ind; four sisters, Mary Simpson of Roanoke, Va., Norma Akers of Raleigh, Peggy Langford of Vienna, Va., and Dorothy Straightift of Wilmington, Del; three grandchildren, Martin Hundley, Elliott Hundley and Cindy Wilson; two great- grandchildren, Kayla Wilson and Hayley Wilson; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruby and Robert Robertson of Roanoke, Va; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service North Elm Street.      Ruby Frances Shaw Ruby Shaw Robertson passed away on August 21, 2023, at Berkshire Health and Rehabilitation Center, Vinton. She was born in Roanoke, VA to the late Robert Lester Shaw and Ruth Poff Shaw. She was predeceased by her husband Robert Raymond “Wacky” Robertson and her only child, Daughter Sherry Lee Robertson Lockhart. She was also predeceased by her sister, Virginia “Ginnie” Shaw Hundley and her husband Bill. Left to cherish her memory are her brother-in-law, Robert W. White of Blountville, TN; sister-in-law Rosalie “Rosie” Robertson of Roanoke, VA; nephews, Timothy “Tim” White and his wife Penny of Blountville, TN, Tom Philpott and his wife Carolyn of Vinton, VA, Bill Hundley of Greensboro, NC, Michael Robertson of Roanoke, VA, Gerry Philpott and his wife Sherry of Johnson City, TN; nieces, Pam White Manuel and her husband Bud of Blountville, TN, Michelle Robertson of West Virginia. She leaves many other dear family members scattered throughout Virginia and the entire United States, as well as numerous beloved friends including her goddaughter, Michelle Allie. Mrs. Robertson was a 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School and attended Virginia Western Community College. She retired as an Assistant Vice President and branch manager for First Federal Savings and Loan. She was a long-time member of Oakland Baptist Church. Services for Mrs. Robertson will be private with burial at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.      Robert Raymond "Wacky" Robertson was buried at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road N. W., Roanoke, Virginia.^4,7 His Social Security Number was 228-30-9671.⁸ He Robert Raymond "Wacky" Robertson, 79, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. He was born in Roanoke on March 23, 1931, to the late John W. and Maud M. Robertson. Preceding him in death were his brothers and sisters, Wellmon Robertson, Dorothy Philpott, Jackie White and Marvin Robertson. Surviving are his loving wife and caregiver of 59 years, Ruby Shaw Robertson; and his daughter, Sherry Robertson Lockhart, of Roanoke. Also left to cherish his memory are his brother-in-law, Robert White, of Blountville, Tenn; his sisters-in-law, Ginny Hundley, of Greensboro, N.C., and Rosie Robertson, of Roanoke; his nephews, Tom Philpott and wife, Carolyn, of Vinton, Bill Hundley, of Greensboro, N.C., Tim White and wife, Penny, of Blountville, Tenn., Michael Robertson, of Roanoke, and Gerry Philpott and wife, Sherry, of Johnson City, Tenn; his nieces, Pam Manuel and husband, Bud, of Blountville, Tenn., and Michelle Robertson, of South Carolina; his godchild, Michelle Hosack, of Wexford, Pa; and numerous cousins and special friends. He was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson High School, a Korean War Veteran (United States Marine Corps) and a retired Hostler at Norfolk and Western. He was a sandlot football coach for 27 years for the Villa Heights Lions and the Williamson Road Browns. He enjoyed woodworking, clock making and repairs, golf and sitting in his rocker on his front porch. He was a member and former deacon at Oakland Baptist Church.

Minnie Avis Bell died on June 23, 1998 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 86.^4,2 She POFF, Minnie Avis Bell, 86, of Check, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998 in a Salem hospital. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas H. and Ardella Poff, Copper Hill, W. Clyde and Leu Poff, Floyd, Roger Clinton and Bonnie Leu Poff, Check; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby B. Stump, Floyd. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Red Oak Grove Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Elbert L. Naff and the Rev. Steve Quesenberry officiating. Interment will be in Restvale Cemetey, Copper Hill. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home, Floyd on June 24, 1998.²

     Lou Emma Hungate Lou Emma Poff, 86, of Floyd, VA went to her heavenly home on Friday, February 4, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Vesta (Smith) Hungate; and sister, Mary Alice Hungate. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 58 years, W. Clyde Poff; son, W. Ralph Poff (Angela); granddaughter, Shawnee Poff; grandson, Jeremiah Poff (Valerie); step-grandson, Lucas Graham (Kayla); two precious great-granddaughters, Valynn and Jolene Poff. Lou was a nurse for over 50 years and is most remembered for her kindness and caring for others. She was a cherished member of Grace Baptist Church, where she attended, until her health declined. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Cemetery. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Kathy Hall for her loyal care over the last several years and the staff of Kindred Hospice for all of their care and compassion for the past 22 months.³ She was buried at Jacksonville Burial Ground, Rt. 8, 0.25 miles south of Floyd, Floyd Co., Virginia.³ She was born on January 26, 1936 at Floyd Co., Virginia.^1,4 She married William Clyde Poff, son of William Clinton Poff and Minnie Avis Bell, on December 20, 1963 at Roanoke, Virginia.^1,3 As of December 20, 1963,her married name was Poff.      Rodger Clinton Poff Rodger Clinton Poff of Check, Virginia went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 29, 2022. Rodger was born on November 4, 1953 to Clinton and Avis Poff. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Avis Poff; his sister, Goldie; and his sister-in-law, Lou Poff. Rodger is survived and missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Bonnie L. Poff; his children, Kathy King (Charlie Abb), Crystal Poff, Tina (Louis) Escobedo, Brad (Solange) Poff; grandchildren, Kimberly (Brian) Beeghly, Joseph (Heather) King, Matthew King, Nathaniel Escobedo, Maggie Escobedo, and Sophia Poff; great-grandchildren, Holden Beeghly, Ella Beeghly and Owen King. Rodger is also survived by brothers, Clyde Poff and Thomas (Ardella) Poff as well as nieces and nephews. Rodger was the happiest when he was surrounded by family and making everyone smile. He will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to have known him.
