Mrs. Wingfield worked for the American Viscose Company until its closure and then worked as a seamstress with Davidson's Mens Clothing Store, where she retired in 1959. She was a longtime member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Roanoke. Besides her mother and father, Mrs. Wingfield was predeceased by husbands, Fred L. Poff, Sr. and Nathan J. Wingfield and brothers, Clement Cole, Oliver Cole, Palmer Cole, Leslie Cole; sisters, Alverta Cole Lawrence, Sylvia Cole Owens; and her son, Fred L. Poff, Jr. She is survived by a brother, Aaron Cole and wife, Ruth of Franklin County and a sister, Ora Cooper of Roanoke. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ronald L. Poff and wife, Vickie of Fincastle, Denise P. Durham and husband, Kenneth W. of Roanoke, Doreen P. Tolley of Fort Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, Roy L. Poff, Carrie L. Poff, Ryan N. Poff, Jesse Durham, and Megan Durham, all of Roanoke. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on October 17, 2003.1

Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on August 17, 2019.5
