Charlie Wallace Mullins Charlie W. Mullins, Feb 24, 1927 - Feb 9, 2017. Charlie Wallace Mullins was born on February 24, 1927, in Princeton, West Virginia, to Joseph Herbert Mullins and Doris Muncy Mullins. Charlie grew up and attended school in or around Roanoke, Virginia. Charlie was the youngest of three brothers, all raised during the Great Depression. The oldest brother, Roy Edward Mullins, enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the beginning of World War II and served in the Pacific. Charlie’s older brother, Joseph Alfred Mullins, was in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during the war. Charlie enlisted in the Army, and was assigned to the 3rd Armor Division in Germany. After being discharged from the Army of the United States in 1946, Charlie returned home to Virginia, where he married the former Marguerite Taylor. They eventually had two sons, Patrick and Mark. Charlie started his apprenticeship to become an electrician under the GI Bill. He was certified as a Master Electrician before even completing his four year apprenticeship program. He worked for the electrical contractor Davis Elliott of Roanoke, Virginia for many years. After they were married, Charlie and Marguerite purchased several acres of land in the rural area of Salem, Virginia, where they would build a permanent home and raise their family. In 1966 Charlie and Marguerite sold the family home in Salem and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida. He supported his family through hard work, providing the family a waterfront home on Tampa Bay, and a solid middle-class lifestyle. Charlie worked for the Electric Machinery Company in Tampa, Florida from the late 1960’s until that company was acquired by another entity around 2005. In retirement he continued to perform consulting work for other electrical contractors, especially in the area of estimating, until his health would no longer allow such activities. In 1973 Charlie and Marguerite divorced. In 1976 Charlie married the former Betty Hope in Tampa, Florida. Charlie and Betty divorced in 2005. Charlie was by all accounts a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a veteran and a patriot. He lived a long and happy life. Without a doubt Charlie represents exactly what people are referring to when they mention a member of the greatest generation.7 He was born on February 24, 1927 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.4,7 He married Marguerite Lena Virginia Taylor on August 24, 1947 at Roanoke, Virginia.3,7 Charlie Wallace Mullins and Marguerite Lena Virginia Taylor were divorced on February 19, 1974 at Pinellas Co., Florida.10 Charlie Wallace Mullins married Betty June Ehle on June 1, 1975 at Pinellas Co., Florida.6 Charlie Wallace Mullins and Betty June Ehle were divorced in 2005.7 Charlie Wallace Mullins died on February 9, 2017 at Florida at age 89.7
