With his wife and brother, they owned Country Way General Merchandise for many years where his kindness and generosity cemented himself as a staple in the Back Creek community. He later spent many years working as a manager in the engineering department of the Hotel Roanoke where he was an integral part of the team. Upon his retirement, Randy relocated to Texas to enjoy his golden years with his new love, Margaret. Randy was all too happy to volunteer his many skills and abilities, particularly his dancing, to many organizations throughout the valley while raising his children. He was known as "handy Randy" for his ability to fix most things and his love of tinkering. Never one to take himself too seriously, he was known for his dad jokes and Randy-isms, like telling everyone that he enjoyed feeling with his fingers and that he was always driving down the road wondering where he went wrong. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Deborah McGehee; his children, Debra Lynn Conner and William Bennett Conner; and his parents, Lynwood Conner and Betty Goad Conner. Randy leaves behind his siblings, Kathy Conner McCormick (Denny), William L Conner, and Phillip Conner; his children, Greyson Phillips Conner, Peyton Conner Stevenson (Justin), Eleanor Mackenzie Conner (Thomas), Steven Lynnwood Conner (Kelly), and Lisa Conner Parker (Brannon); his grandchildren, Haley Nicole Parker, Hannah Joyce Parker, Drew Randal Conner, and Lorelei Eileen Conner; his partner, Margaret Byrne; and many other family members and friends. on February 16, 2023.⁵
