     Sarah "Sally" Riffe was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.3,4 She was born on June 25, 1862 at Raleigh Co., West Virginia.1,3,4 She died on September 28, 1950 at Beckley, Raleigh Co., West Virginia, at age 88.1,3,4 She Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today from the Crab Orchard Baptist Church for Miss Sallie Riffe, 88, life long resident of Raleigh County, who died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday at her home, 116 Beckley Avenue. She had been ill for three months. The Rev. Shirley Donnelly will officiate assisted by Dr. Alvin J. Cook. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Born near Sophia, June 25, 1862, she was the daughter of William C. and Frances Gray Riffe. The only member of the immediate family surviving is a sister, Miss J. Ellen Riffe, of the Beckley Avenue address. Nephews who will serve as pallbearers are D. A. Riffe, P. K. Polk, G. D. Covey, Basil Riffe, Carney C. Curtis, and W. J. Dunn. Nieces will be flowerbearers. The body was taken from the Calfee Funeral Home to the residence at 5 p.m. yesterday, and will be removed to the church one hour prior to the services. on September 30, 1950.4

Polk, 66 years old, wife of Daniel Polk, died at her home at Sophia, last night shortly before 11 o'clock. Death was attributed to a heart ailment after a long period of illness. Mrs. Polk was related by birth and marriage to several prominent Raleigh county families. Besides her husband she is survived by the following children; Perry, Daniel, and Campbell Polk, of Sophia; Mrs. Dryle Daniels; Mrs. Fred Ritter and Misses Clara Barton and Carol Polk, of Sophia. Surviving brothers and sisters are John Riffe and Dr. W. T. Riffe, of Beckley; Pete Riffe of Crab Orchard; Henry Riffe of Virginia; Mrs. Charles Dunn, of Beckley and Misses Sallie and Ellen Riffe. Funeral services will be held from the Sophia church, Rev. H. I Cook officiating, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial with Calfee Undertakers, in charge of arrangements will be made in the Sophia cemetery. on January 15, 1932.6

H. Dunn, of an old Raleigh county family, died of a heart attack, while talking to her husband at their home here Monday. Mrs. Dunn was apparently in her usual health when she returned from the yard of her home where she had been working a few minutes before. A daughter of William C. and Mary Frances Riffe, Mrs. Dunn was born at Soak Creek, April 26, 1868. Beside her husband she is survived by the following children: W. S. Dunn, a teacher in a mission school at Bhadrack, Orissa, India; Mrs. Henry Wills, and W. J. Dunn, of Beckley; Miss Donnie Dunn, Bluefield; and C. Erskine Dunn, of Beckley. Surviving brothers and sisters are: J. C. Riffe, of Beckley; P. B. Riffe, of Crab Orchard; Dr. W. T. Riffe, Beckley, H. M. Riffe, Elliston, Va., and Mrs. Sallie and J. Ellen Riffe, of Crab Orchard. on January 30, 1934.3

He was born on Soak Creek near Sophia, January 7, 1877, the son of William C. and Frances Riffe. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Delia Riffe, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. A. G. Wilcox, of Beaver; Basil Riffe, Baltimore; Mrs. Ira Davis, of Beckley; Edward Riffe, Washington D.C., and Hayward Riffe, of Beckley. Two brothers and two sisters are living; Misses Sallie and J. Ellen Riffe, of Crab Orchard; Dr. W. T. Riffe, of Beckley, and Henry M. Riffe, of Elliston, Va. Funeral services will be conducted at Mount Tabor Baptist church, of which he was a member, Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Mount Tabor cemetery. The Rev. Merlin Smith of Crab Orchard, will conduct the services. The body will be removed to the home on Harper road at 2:00 this afternoon where it will be in state until the funeral hour. Active pallbearers will be B. B. Chambers, Olen Taylor, Pierce Stanley, Lee Cook, Dell Stanley, and Bill Carter. on March 5, 1943.3

W. Hutchinson, aged about 50 years, died in the City hospital in Charleston Friday afternoon, February 18th, of eezema, and complications from which he had suffered for from some time. He was a member of a well known Raleigh County family and was born near Beckley. His brother J. Q. Hutchinson and son Lyle, who is employed in the Beckley National Bank, are with the family in Charleston this week where they were called by the death of Mr. Hutchinson. His wife and three other children survive, who reside at the family home 707 Morris street, Charleston. Doctor Hutchinson was a graduate of the School of Dentistry and Cincinnati, and practiced in Parkersburg for many years. Burial made Sunday in Charleston. on February 19, 1920.6

Hutchinson will leave today for Huntington to attend the funeral which will be held on Thursday. on April 8, 1953.4

The Rev. Dr. Alvin J. Cook was to officiate, and burial was to be in Sunset Memorial Park under the direction of Calfee Funeral Home. Mr. Hutchinson, 81, died Tuesday in a Beckley hospitaL A graduate of Concord Normal School and the West Virginia University College of Law school in 1907, Mr. Hutchinson had practiced in Beckley until his retirement on Jan. 1. A Republican, he served as Beckley City Treasurer in 1909, Raleigh County prosecutor in 1912 and as a State Senator in 1928. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Beckley, the Raleigh County Bar Assn., Elks Lodge, the Masonic Lodge, the Bem Kedem Shrine, the West Virginia Emeritus Club and Beckley Kiwanis Club. Surviving are his wife, Lelia; three daughters, Mrs. Edwin Phillips of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Eugene Thoenen of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Blanche Hutchinson of Morgantown; a son, the Rev. John Hutchinson of Gloucester, Mass., and six gracdchildren. on February 2, 1961.5
