"Jimmy" Poff and wife Terry, Nashville, Tenn; daughter, Carolyn P. Mazingo and husband Burton, Rocky Mount; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Nelson Poff, and wife Millie, Roanoke; sisters, Lottie Radford and husband Eston, Floyd, Edith Poff Flint, Roanoke, Lillian Oyler and husband Tilton, Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice, 4005 Electric Road Roanoke, Va. 24018. A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2001 at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road by the Rev. Tom Oliphant. The family will receive friends following the service. Arrangements by Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, (366-0707). on August 21, 2001.8

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Salem, Va. Ronald Lee Wimmer married Louise LaPrade circa 1985.1,2,3,6,4 Ronald Lee Wimmer died on July 12, 2005 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 69.4 He Ronald Wimmer, 69, of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Ronald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who love him for his wonderful sense of humor and a love of family. He was a founding and Life member of the Bent Mountain Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Louise Wimmer; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Rosie Wimmer of Bent Mountain; stepson, Jeff Booth of Glade Hill; stepdaughter, Tammy Audia of Charlottesville; sister, Helen Vest of Salem; sister-in-law, Betty Wimmer of Salem; brothers-in-law Marvin LaPrade of Rocky Mount, Walter LaPrade of Beaver Creek, Ohio; grandchildren, Heather, Frances, Nathan and Jeremy Wimmer and stepgrandchildren, Chelsey Booth and Madeline Audia.      Robert C. "Bob" Sullivan Robert C. Sullivan, 62, well known resident of Bottom Creek since 1917, died Monday night at 8:35 o'clock at the home of a sister Mrs. J. W. Lindsey at Bottom Creek. Mr. Sullivan was stricken with a stroke of apoplexy last friday a week ago which left the entire left side of his body paralyzed. He had been unable to speek a word since his affliction and his condition had been condition had been considered grave for several days. Mr. Sullivan was born at Marion, Virginia, December 14, 1866, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Sullivan. He spent most of his life in that section of Virginia, but after his wife died, moved to Bottom Creek where he had since resided with Mrs. Lindsey. The deceased was employed for some time as a night watchman for the coal company at Peerless, but during the past year he had been unemployed. Mr. Sullivan is survived by two sisters and three brothers as follows: Mrs. J. W. Lindsey, Bottom Creek; Mrs. V. E. Kestner, Kimball; G. A. Sullivan, East Radford, Va; Jim Sullivan, Coburn, Va; and N. A. Sullivan of Keystone. The body will be sent to Marion, Va., Wednesday morning, where funeral services will be held in the afternoon. Interment will also take place at Marion.4 He was born on December 14, 1866 at Marion, Smyth Co., Virginia.2,4 He married Mary Odella J. "Della" Gearheart, daughter of Henry I. Gearheart and Sarah C. "Nannie" Williams, daughter of Mathew Williams and Elizabeth Olive Sowers, on January 23, 1868 at Floyd Co., Virginia.3,1 Calvin Evans "Dock" Spangler died on July 27, 1921 at Elliston, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 71.1,4,2 He Calvin Evans (Dock) Spangler died suddenly, last Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. D. Barton, near Elliston, where he had made his home for the past several months. It will be remembered that Mr. Spangler was visiting relatives in and around Poff for a week and had returned home that day, in his usual health. He had eaten his supper and after doing some of the chores about the house, sat down and expired in a few minutes without uttering a word. He had been afflicted with heart trouble for some time. His body was brought back here and buried at the Lutheran church Saturday morning, after the funeral was preached by his pastor, Rev. J. M. Tise, in the presence of a large crowd. Mr. Spangler was born on Dec. 7, 1849, and died Jul. 27, 1921, making his age 71 years, 7 months and 20 days. He was a member of the Lutheran church and had been for about 40 years. He had been in the mercantile business for about 45 years and had sold out a few months ago. On Jan. 23, 1868, he was married to Miss Nannie E. Williams and to the union were born on six children, two of whom died in infancy. The living children are Mrs. J.S. Weddle, of Winston-Salem, NC, Mrs. Homer Sowers, of Roanoke, Mrs. W.D. Barton and L.E. Spangler of Elliston. He leaves one brother, David Spangler. His wife preceded him to the grave about ten months ago. We extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives. on August 4, 1921.1
