Jessica was a beautiful artistic person that could inspire beauty in the clients she served as a hairdresser and in the students she taught at Brandon Middle School. She would choose controversial topics to discuss in order to get her students to think and excel in academic knowledge. She often expressed how much she wanted them to learn, graduate and have a better quality of life. She was predeceased by her father and mother, David and Hazel Craighead and brother-in-law, Albert Dewey Hendrick. She is survived by her family that loved her dearly; her sister, Barbara Hendrick; nephew and wife, Patrick and Amy Abbott; niece and husband, Beth and James Lynskey; and her greatnephews that she loved dearly, Adam Blake and David (Kai) Lynskey, all of Roanoke, Va. Also survived are her fiance, Ricky Speight, of Carrollton, Va. and her best "childhood friend" Jim Booth, of Ocean View, Va; and her ex-husband, Glen Dyer, of Berryville, Va. She also leaves behind a host of friends and students that she impacted their lives in some special way. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Rev. Ken Dupin will officiate. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237. on November 7, 2008.9

Mourning her passing are her grandson, Glenn Carter and wife, Karen; great-granddaughter, Erica Carter; great-nephew, Bobby Johnson, whom she raised, all of Roanoke; brother, Bill Simpson, of Salem; stepson, Don Craighead, of Vinton; her niece and caretaker, Virginia Mae King Agnew, of Roanoke; 10 nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Sat. October 2, 1999 with Pastor Chester Lykins officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park on September 30, 1999.1

Craighead, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 1990, with the Rev. Frank G. Kish officiating. Interment in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lotz Roanoke Chapel. The family extends their appreciation to Heritage Hall, Blacksburg, Va. for the loving care and kindness she received during her long illness. on March 6, 1990.4

Surviving family includes his loving niece and caretaker, Virginia Mae King Agnew, and husband, Irvin, of Roanoke; ten nieces; and one nephew; also loving and caring neighbors and Lillie's nephew and wife, Russell and Anna Looney, Manassas; niece, Elsie Jefferson, Spring Hill, FL. He was a native of Salem since 1941 and was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was born on Bent Mountain and came to Roanoke at age 14 and went to work at the American Iron and Bridge Works. Later he was employed by the Grumman Corporation for 55 years. Bill loved and was devoted to his work and retired at age 75. Funeral services will be held Tues. March 27, 2001 at 3 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & son Salem Funeral Home with Rev. John R. Furman officiating. Interment at his wife's side will follow at Sherwood Memorial park. on March 27, 2001.1

Looney & wife Anna, Manassas; two nieces, Elsie Jefferson of Spring Hill, FL, Mildred Billings of Westminster, MD; also surviving are several other nieces and nephews and many close friends. Funeral services will be Wed. 11 a.m. at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem by the Rev. Lonnie Barnes. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial park. on November 24, 1992.2

He was a World War II veteran of the US Navy, long time member of First Nazarene, and retiree of 31 years from the US Postal Service. He enjoyed golf at Blue Hills and many visits to Sunset Beach, N.C. Preceding him in death are his parents, Jabe Johnson and Beatrice Flinchum Agnew; brother, Johnson Agnew; and son, Randy Agnew. Left to cherish his memory: wife (his girl) of 66 years, Virginia King Agnew (Jen); daughter, Connie Gray and husband, Ken; son Randy's children, Nikki Agnew and Todd Agnew and their mother, Linda, and Josh Agnew and his mother, Karen; son, Barry and wife, Elizabeth Merritt Agnew; sister, Eleanor Peverall and husband, Turk. Seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren will miss their Granddaddy/Graddy: Brian Settles and wife, Kimberly and children, Brecken and Kaidyn, Kevin Settles and children, McKenzy and Kamdyn, Nikki Agnew and daughter, Cassidy, Todd Agnew and wife, Keisha, Philip Agnew, Chloe Agnew and Josh Agnew; also four nieces, four nephews and many friends. Funeral service at First Church of the Nazarene, Highland Avenue, Friday, February 6, 2009, 1 p.m. Graveside follows at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Earl Robertson officiating. Flowers accepted but donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or First Nazarene. Visitation, Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. 982-2221 on February 4, 2009.2

Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel, 1 p.m. Friday, September 6, 1996, with Rev. Michael Barnes officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel, where the family will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. on September 5, 1996.2
