     Charles Edward Henderson Charles E. “Charlie” Henderson, 79, of Boones Mill, Va., passed away at his home on Monday, February 20, 2017 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Charles was born on March 6, 1937 to Robert E. Sr. and Mae Likens Henderson. His parents predeceased him along with his brothers, David D. Henderson and Robert E. Henderson, Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judy King Henderson; his adoring children Jeffrey A. (Ginger) Henderson, Krista D. Henderson, and Brian T. (April) Henderson; grandchildren Logan Henderson, Savannah Henderson, Caleb Henderson, and Cara Henderson; brother, R. Ray (Shirley) Henderson; two sisters June H. (Carl) Lowe and Genevieve H. Grant; sisters-in-law Genevieve C. Henderson and Nancy H. (James) Boyd; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lloyd (LJ) and Sue King, Randy and JoAnne King; many wonderful nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Charles was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked as a machinist in the A&R shop. He was an avid horseman throughout his entire life working with horses in nearly every capacity from trail riding, showing, judging, training, and shoeing. He cherished the many friendships he made over the years through horses and was always grateful for time spent in the saddle with friends and family. His other interest was Old Time Music. Charles was a self-taught musician, and was proficient at playing the guitar, fiddle, and claw hammer banjo. He was very proud to be part of the Rockbridge Pickers and to bring joy to others through his gift of music. He will be fondly remembered by all for his sense of humor and willingness to help others. The family is most grateful for all of our dear friends, family, and neighbors. The family would like to sincerely thank all of the wonderful Generation Solutions staff who cared for him over the last several months at home, especially Ashley and Sierra for their compassionate care during his final week. He left a will in March, 1908 at Floyd Co., Virginia; I Harvey Cole of the county of Floyd and state of Virginia being sound of mind but weak in body, do make this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills written by me. First it is my will that all of my just debts and burial expenses be paid after my death. Second it is my will that my son J. Kyle Cole have the home place where we now live, all except the part that Valentine Cole lives on. That has been surveyed but has not yet been deeded to him, but which I wish to deed to him in the future for a price on consideration yet to be fixed and that said J. Kyle Cole have one hundred and fifty dollars before any of the rest of the heirs get any and further that he care for me and my wife Cynthia so long as we both shall live furnishing us with the necessities of life so long as we shall live, and after our death to have said land as his compensation. Third it is my will that the proceeds of Valentine and Bailey Coles land together with all other debts if any are due me at the time of my death and my wifes death together with my entire personal effects, which shall be sold at the highest bidder and divided among my children as follows. To the heirs of Mary Graham (daughters) to the heirs of Ellen Wickham, Pleasant T. Cole, the heirs of James D. Cole, Noah Cole, Bailey Cole, Valentine Cole, and J. Kyle Cole equally, except for the heirs of Ellen J. Wickham which are to have only two dollars each, also Sarah Hale should have been in the above as sharing equally with the other heirs. Fourth, it is my will that my executors have three years to collect the debts in yearly installments. Fifth, it is my will that my sons Bailey, Valentine, and J.
