Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Wayne Carter, of Chesapeake, Va., and Bonnie and Buddy Hannah, of Durham, N.C; sons and daughtersin-law, Rick and Jean Haynes, of Amarillo, Texas, and David and Susan Haynes, of Roanoke; four grandchildren; her special granddaughter, Tammy Barnhill and husband, Noah; and Jennifer, Kathryn and Meredith Haynes; sister, Virginia Young of Roanoke; beloved uncle, Howard Buchanan and wife, Evelyn; sister-in-law, Betty Rhea Haynes; and two nephews and two nieces, Michael and Sherry Young, Gary Haynes and wife, Vickie and Cindy Earhart. The family wishes to thank the staff at Raleigh Court Health and Rehabilitation Center and Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care during their mothers extended illness. A graveside service will be held in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on December 25, 2007.2

Betty Rhea Richardson was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.4,2 She Betty Rhea Richardson Haynes of Roanoke, Va., and most recently of Bellevue, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at the age of 89. She leaves behind many who loved her from Ohio to Virginia to South Carolina and beyond. Born in Roanoke, Va., she was the youngest daughter of the late Preston and Mayola Richardson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Winston Haynes; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and David Trout, Charlotte and Thomas Hubbard, Judy and Nick Fuller, and Harry and Betty Haynes. Betty was a member of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church in Roanoke for over 40 years where she served on numerous committees and sang in the choir. She had most recently resided at the Willows in Bellevue, Ohio, and had attended Harvest Baptist Temple with her son and daughter in law. Betty graduated from Jefferson High School in the Class of 1947 and worked as a buyer for Leggett Department Store for many years. Her early travels as a buyer took her to New York where she kept up with the latest fashions. Betty was always a classy dresser and was still setting trends at the Willows where she most recently lived. Betty is survived by her children, Gary (Vicky) Haynes of Bellevue, Ohio, and Cindy Earhart (Jan Dillard) of Virginia Beach, Va; grandchildren, Nicole (John) Ochenduski, Matthew (Ann) Haynes, Kimberly Earhart, and Chad (Katie) Earhart; great-grandchildren, Julia and Daniel Ochenduski; and many nieces and nephews. Betty lived life to the fullest and made lasting friendships over the years no matter where she lived. Her family will remember her as a strong-willed, loving force in their lives. Betty’s family would like to thank all the caring and compassionate nurses and aids at the Willows where Betty had lived for the last five years. She was surrounded by those that loved her. The family gives a very big thank you for all the care that was given to Betty and family the last few days of her life at Bellevue Hospital and the Willows.
