She loved her Church, church family and was loved by all. She is survived by a daughter, Rushie Conner and her husband, William (Benny), of Check, Va; a sister, Rushie Violet Smith, of Roanoke, Va; six grandchildren and spouses, William Glenn and Sue Conner, Calvin Ray and Barbara Conner, Leslie Dale and Shawn Conner, Randall B. and Melissa Conner, Donna Reynolds, and Jeffrey and Ginger Conner; 12 greatgrandchildren; three greatgreat-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Frances Conner. Interment will follow at Restvale Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff and wonderful nurses at Skyline Manor Nursing Home for the excellent care given to her while she was there. A special thanks goes to Frances for her love, support, and special care given to her during her illness and while she was in the nursing home. on July 7, 2008.²

The body was brought from McLean last night. Born April 20, 1862, near Harper's Ferry, Mr. Williams had been a car inspector for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway for 50 years at his retirement eight years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Car Inspectors and of Gladstone Baptist Church. His wife, Mrs. Emma Smoot Williams, died several years ago. Surviving Mr. Williams are three sons, R. W. Williams of Madison Heights, James E. Williams of Lynchburg, and Jack Williams of Gladstone; five daughters, Mrs. W. B. Taylor of Allen's Creek, Mrs. M. F. Guthrie of Richmond, Mrs. S. H. Thomas of Gladstone, Mrs. E. T. Smith of Lynchburg, and Mrs. Johnson of McLean; a brother Cam Williams of Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. T. H. Bryant of Lynchburg. He leaves also 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. on January 17, 1942.²

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Calvin St. Clair of Bassett; one son and daughter-in-law, Vernon and Jean Jones of Callaway; grandchildren, Deborah Foley of Martinsville, Taylor and Jan Johnson, and Crystal St. Clair, all of Bassett, Freda and Wayne Scott of Ferrum, and Keith and Angie Jones of Greenville, S.C; great-grandchildren, Amadeus and Darius Foley of Martinsville, Eric and Cory Johnson and Jacob Jackson, all of Bassett, Kristin and Patrick Scott of Ferrum, and Nicholas Jones and Reed Jones of Greenville, S.C; one sister, Lena Custer of Rocky Mount; two brothers and sisters-in-law, B. L. Sr. and Era Furrow, and Pat and Evelyn Furrow, all of Callaway, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, 1998, at Lynch Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge of arrangements. on April 5, 1998.¹
