Ira Hudnall Ira Hudnall, 75, of Crestline, OH, passed away at home, on Tuesday, November 25, after losing a very sudden, but grueling battle to cancer. Ira was born on April 15, 1939, in Crown Hill, WV, to the late Milburn F. and Josephine E. (Reed) Hudnall, and he was the baby of 21. He married Louise M. Reindel on December 31, 1959, and she passed away on December 18, 1984. Ira then married Wanda O. Brown on February 25, 1995, and they remained in Crestline. Ira worked in retail his entire life, starting at Uncle Bill’s and ending at Sam’s. He and Wanda belonged to the Church of the Nazarene, Crestline, where they were surrounded by many friends. Ira is survived by his wife, Wanda Hudnall, of Crestline, OH; sons, David (Julie) and Donald (Michelle) Hudnall; daughters-in-law, Catherine and Laura Hudnall; son-in-law Randy Bates, all of South Bend, IN; step-son Chris (Jerri) McCleese of Cleveland, TN; step-daughter Heather (Robert) Thompson of Mansfield, OH; 18 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Graley of Wooster, OH and Betty Massey of East Bank, WV. Ira was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise (Reindel) Hudnall; sons, John and Chad Hudnall; daughter, Barbara Bates; grandsons, Timothy and Dean Hudnall; and 18 siblings. Ira held two things sacred – his Faith and his Family – and he devoted his life to both. Ira was full of life and shared that gift with everyone he met. There were only two kinds of people in this world – those who loved Ira, and those who had never met him. Ira was most alive when he was telling stories, quite often with a guitar in his hand. He cherished pickin’ his guitar with Bluegrass Impressions and teaching his grandkids “There’s a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea.” He loved ministering through blue grass and gospel music, whether it was at a nursing home, prison, or Dave and Julie’s garage….each place might’ve even contained some of the same people. If he wasn’t singing, Papa adored watching his kids play ball, fishin’ with his grandkids/great grandkids & Mary, watching westerns, and fallin’ himself a tree. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home, Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46635. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 2 pm Monday, December 1. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, South Bend, IN. Wanda would like to thank all the family and friends who stopped to be with Ira over the last months, especially Mary, Danny, and David who took such great care of him until the very end. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio or Church of the Nazarene, Crestline. Ira suffered through more pain and loss than any one man should have to endure, but through it all, his faith in the Lord and his love of his family never wavered. Just as Ira was always there - with the perfect song - at the perfect time, to help get us through those difficult moments in our lives, it was poetic that his last minutes on earth were spent in song. David played “Someday”, by Blue Highway, and as soon as Ira heard it, he opened his eyes wide, so you just knew he was singing along. Ira hung on, “singing” every line, until the last: “And after all is said and done Know that my last earnest prayer Is that my loved ones be ready Some day to meet me there” When the music stopped, Ira closed his eyes, took one last breath, packed up his guitar, and headed Home. Aay Boy – I Ain’t Never Seen…….. Such a Thing. Once again, Ira sang the perfect song, at the perfect time.7 He was buried at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 W. Cleveland Road, Granger, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.7,10 He was born on April 15, 1939 at Crown Hill, Kanawha Co., West Virginia.7 He married Louise Marie Reindel on December 31, 1959.7,11 Ira Hudnall married Wanda O.      John Allen Hudnall was buried at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 W. Cleveland Road, Granger, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.3 He John Allen Hudnall, 52, of Granger, IN, passed away at 2:05 PM Saturday, November 16 at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend, after a grueling battle with cancer. John was surrounded by the people he loved, and who loved him. He was born on March 24, 1961 in Cleveland, OH to Ira and Louise (Rhiendel) Hudnall. On November 4, 2002, he married Laura B. Maure - and Laura knew the moment she saw him at Doolittle's, that John was going to be hers! John graduated from Clay High School and was a stone and brick mason, who took great pride in his work. He often said: "Anyone can lay brick, but it takes a true artist to work with stone." John laid the foundations for family, friends, and countless others, because he was simply the best – and his craftsmanship will live with us for generations. John is survived by his wife, Laura Hudnall; sons, Jered (Holly) Hudnall of South Bend, Chad Maure and Chandler Hill of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren; father, Ira (Wanda) Hudnall of Crestline, OH; brothers, David (Julie) Hudnall and Dee Dee (Michelle) Hudnall of South Bend; sister-in-law, Cathy Hudnall of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Hudnall; son, Dean Hudnall; sister, Barbara Bates; brother, Chad Hudnall; and nephew, Timothy Hudnall. Johnny enjoyed fishing, camping, and westerns. He especially loved watching Gunsmoke with his dog Sampson. He was a humble man, except when he was teaching his boys a lesson on the basketball court. Johnny spent his last days making sure his house was in order, on multiple levels. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 19 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to mass in church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Johnny may be donated to the Hudnall Family Benefit Fund, c/o 1st Source Bank. Johnny was a simple man who loved his family. He didn't always follow his own advice about not starting a project in the front yard, where everyone can see your mistakes - and as a result - he made his share of bad choices and poor decisions. But like the amazing craftsman he was, he learned from the mistakes, and in the last few years, was doing the best work of his life. After all, it doesn't matter what a project looks like in the beginning, it only matters how it comes out in the end. Johnny spent his last days laying a foundation for his family – although, instead of the concrete and stone he had used in the past – this one was built out of love, compassion, and his determination to live. A lot of people can work with stone, but it takes a true artist to work with love. Johnny - thanks for the masterpiece.3 He was born on March 24, 1961 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio.3,4 He married Laura Beth Maure on November 4, 2002 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.3,5 John Allen Hudnall died on November 16, 2013 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 52.3

Chad Edward Hudnall was buried at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 W. Cleveland Road, Granger, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.2 He Chad E. Hudnall, 37, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Memorial Hospital, after a long and grueling battle with cancer. He was born on November 22, 1975 in Mansfield, OH to Ira and Louise (Rhiendel) Hudnall. On July 28, 2001, Chad made the best decision of his life, and married Catherine Arce. Cathy became the rock on which the foundation of their marriage would rest, and together they created four spectacular children: Colton, the twins – Carter and Dylan, and Lainey. Chad is survived by his wife, Catherine; sons, Colton, Carter, Dylan; and daughter, Lainey; all of South Bend; his father, Ira (Wanda) Hudnall of Crestline, OH; brothers, David (Julie) Hudnall of South Bend, Donald (Michelle) Hudnall of South Bend, and John (Laure) Hudnall of Granger; numerous nieces and nephews; Cathy’s parents, Carlos and Monica Arce; and her brothers, Chris Savoie and Jamie Arce (Yuli). Chad was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Hudnall; sister, Barbara Bates; and nephews, Timothy and Dean Hudnall. Chad taught math at Clay High School, where he also served as varsity baseball head coach, leading the Colonials to the Sectional Championship in 2013. He also served for years as head junior varsity and assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach. Chad attended Ball State and then Bethel College for two years, where he played baseball. He finished his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University - South Bend, where he played basketball. From an early age, it was clear Chad was destined for something special. He had always been gifted, and this was first displayed on the runway as he became a child model, reaching his modeling zenith when he landed an underwear ad in a local newspaper. Chad soon transitioned to one of his true loves, sports, and traded his tighty-whities for a jock strap. He went on to play baseball and basketball for Clay High School, and ended up being one of the most accomplished athletes in the school’s history. Chad still appears in the baseball record books in numerous categories, but it was his efforts on the hard court that will forever entrench him as Colonial royalty. Chad was a member of the 1994 Clay basketball team that beat Valparaiso in the Hoosier Dome to win the State Championship. The entire Clay cheering section began yelling for the Valpo crowd to “Come on Back” as they had prepared to storm the court before the Colonials sent the game into overtime in an unbelievable series of events. It was Chad’s “three” that started the scoring in OT, and in an interview afterwards, he mentioned that his mother Louise was in the stadium, sitting in the 32nd row, helping that shot go in. That was only the beginning of the impact Chad would have at Clay. He spent over a decade there as a teacher, coach, mentor, beloved co-worker, and inspirational role model – who was dedicated to the importance of educating young people – both in and out of the classroom. Chad always took the time to work out an extra math problem or pitch one more round of BP, regardless if it was a struggling student or a star athlete. Chad loved fishing at Potato Creek – Playing Jenga, Monopoly, Connect Four, and Putt-Putt with his kids – Believing in his players, no matter the circumstance – Derb – Lighting people up in Gus Macker – Always putting the needs of other before the needs of himself – Playing baseball – Going for late-night drives so he could have a chew and delude himself into thinking he was sneaking it past Cathy, which clearly never worked – Asking “Who sings this?” when a song would come on the radio – Knowing the importance of role players – Playing old school video games – Doing anything for anyone – Knowing he was the best shooter, simply by entering the gym – Watching his kids play ball, even when it meant sitting on a bucket. Like any great coach, you’re only as good as the talent around you, and Chad was surrounded by an abundance of all-stars. His siblings, nieces and nephews, co-workers, and friends worked tirelessly to assist Team Hudnall in any way possible. They were simply paying him back for all the times he had been there for them: holding the family together after the passing of his mother Louise, and then being the steadying presence when tragedy struck with Barbie, Timmer, and Dean. A very heartfelt thank you needs to go out to Paula Abraham, who was simply amazing through everything. Chad loved his family and friends above all else, and this is best shown through his relationship with Cathy and the kids. While sports played a huge role in his life, Chad never had a better teammate than Cathy. She was Chad’s equal in every way, and it was her warrior spirit that got them through some unbelievably difficult times. She held their family together through sheer force of will, and it was Chad’s confidence in Cathy that finally allowed him to give up his fight. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 3, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, on 17131 Cleveland Road South Bend. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, November 4, 2013, also at the Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, with Pastor Paul Murray officiating. Graveside services, and burial, will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Chad may be donated to the Hudnall Family Benefit Fund at any 1st Source Bank. Like Chad always preached to his students and players, he kept working and fighting until the very end, refusing to give up, and doing so with remarkable dignity, grace, and class. Chad’s sense of humor and commitment to always seeing the best in people will be greatly missed. We wish we could say: “Come on Back”, and you would rejoin us one more time – but we know that you’ve already taken your seat in the 32nd Row, waiting for the day you can help your kids the way Louise helped you. The 3 is up – and it’s good.2 He was born on November 22, 1975 at Mansfield, Richland Co., Ohio.2 He married Catherine Diane "Cathy" Arce on July 28, 2001 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.2,3 Chad Edward Hudnall died on October 31, 2013 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, at age 37.2
