Spring Hill Man Killed, While Fellow Workman Is Seriously Injured in Explosion at South Charleston Plant. Ott Weaver, 36, of Spring Hill, was killed and William Brawley, 35 of this city received burns that may cause his death in an explosion at the plant of the Barium Reduction company in South Charleston at 4:15 o'clock, yesterday afternoon. Brawley was rushed to the Dunn hospital in South Charleston immediately after the blast and was reported to be in a serious condition, last night. The explosion came when a huge gas tank near the upper end of the tank let go. Weaver was beneath the tank at the time on an inspection tour and was burned to death. It was thought that he had been instantly killed. Weaver was working near the tank when the explosion took place. The exact cause of the blast could not be determined last night. The deceased was an electrical engineer and had been employed at the Barium plant in South Charleston for 11 years. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Weaver, and four children, Mildred, 15, Meredith, 13, Ruth, 11, and Lawrence, 9 years of age. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Weaver of 1423 Seventh avenue, this city, and three brothers and three sisters also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the South Charleston Baptist church. It was announced last night. Officials of the Barium company could not be reached last night and the extent of the damage to the plant could not be learned. It was understood, however, that the loss was covered, by insurance. Weaver was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, the order of Junior Mechanics and the Knights of Pythias according to his family. Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church of South Charleston and will be in charge of the Knights of Pythias. on October 23, 1926.4

Crowder, and two grandsons, Joshua Crowder and James Crowder. Jean is fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. A member of Melrose Baptist Church, Jean was a devout christian and prayer warrior who was always concerned for the well being of her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Crowder and wife Connie, Mark Crowder and wife Mary; a daughter, Mary Painter and husband, Jonnie, daughter-in-law, Deidre Crowder, two sisters-in-law, Ann T. Carter and Mary Crowder, a special friend, Di Thomason, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Ragland, of Roanoke; sisters-in-law, Renee (Danny) Jarrett, of Roanoke, Trina (Dave) Peskar, of Breckinridge, Colo; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Melrose Baptist Church 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2014, with the Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Oakey's North Chapel. on February 16, 2014.2
