Carmelina Faraci was buried at Saint Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield, Middlesex Co., Connecticut.3,4 She was born on May 25, 1928 at Middletown, Middlesex Co., Connecticut.5,3 She married Lewis Price Bower Sr., son of William Wallace Bower and Odessa Prudence "Dessie" Palmer, on November 10, 1951 at Middletown, Middlesex Co., Connecticut.6,2,3 As of November 10, 1951,her married name was Bower.2 Carmelina Faraci died on November 27, 2018 at Middlesex Co., Connecticut, at age 90.3 She Carmelina Faraci Bower, 88, of Durham and Old Lyme, CT passed at her home on Nov. 27, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness. Born in Middletown, she resided in Durham since 1963. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and St. Sebastian's. Widow of Lewis P. Bower, Sr., beloved husband of fifty years, she is survived by her son, Lewis P. Bower, Jr., his wife Dana, their children Lewis III, his wife Becca and great-granddaughter Susan Ellen, Matthew, Emily, and Sarah and her fiancé Nick Wright, and her daughter Linda Cerritelli and husband Dominick, and their children Leah, Maya, and Lila. She was predeceased by her parents Louis Faraci and his wife Amelia Romano, brothers Chick, Theodore, Joseph, Louis Jr., Nicolas, Armando, and Salvatore, and her sisters Jennie, and Carol. She leaves her surviving siblings William and Edward, Delores Wilson and Evelyn Epright. Raising most of the brothers and sisters following the early passing of her mom, Carmelina was the family matriarch, a role she relished. Her love and commitment to her family was boundless. She was looked up to as a source of strength and support by all of them, including her 47 nieces and nephews. In 1973 she began her second career as a successful business-woman, having established two successful retirement centers with her husband, Worthington Manor of East Berlin, and Marbridge Retirement Center of Cheshire. She went on to assist her son in the operation of Health Resources Home Care, throughout the 1990's, and then later served as an executive director at Seacrest Retirement and Assisted Care Center of West Haven, CT since 1999. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence was second to none. She developed many close and endearing friendships with her many co-workers over her 45-year career and considered all of them part of her life and her family – and there were hundreds of them – teaching, socializing and befriending. Working full time until four weeks ago, she was never short on energy, quick wit, and known for her shrewd mind, even as she approached ninety. One of her responsibilities she enjoyed most was managing the dietary departments, working with her team of executive chefs in developing menus, ordering food product, and savoring the pleasure her residents took in it. She never missed a beat or a day's work. Always known for her love of having others enjoy her food, she raised the bar in her businesses and would never compromise, setting a high standard for those all around her. She was deeply loved and respected and leaves her employees, clients, and families with a deep sense of loss. All of these people made every day a joy for her. Carmelina was passionate when it came to her children, grandchildren, great-children, and her best friend and beloved niece Doreen Conroy and treasured each and every moment with them. She spent most weekends planning her menu for Sunday, and took most pleasure in seeing her family enjoy her Sunday lunch. She was a phenomenal cook and known by all for sharing of her recipes and traditions. Carmelina was especially grateful for her caretakers over the past several months, daughter Linda, daughter by marriage Dana, and niece Doreen, all who provided love, support, care and compassion, and who were with her at passing. She was also thankful for her team of physicians, nurses and care tech's at Yale Hospital, St. Raphael's Campus Cardiac floors who exceeded all expectations and treated her like a queen. A funeral mass will be held this Friday, November 30th, 10 a.m., at St. Sebastian's Church, Middletown, with internment to immediately follow. on November 29, 2018.3
