He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Denzil Dewease; and his father-in-law, Victor Huffman. Denny enjoyed his grandchildren's activities, golfing, fishing, NASCAR races, and was a Virginia Tech fan. He served the community for 45 years in the grocery business. His survivors include his beloved wife of 45 years, Donna Huffman Dewease; three children, Andy Dewease and wife, Amy, Kelly Henderson and husband, Troy, and Suzanne Alley and husband, Steve; eight grandchildren, Jake Dewease, Anna Dewease, Tucker Henderson, Rhett Henderson, Haden Henderson, Kendall Moore, Karsyn Moore and Lilly Alley; his mother, Barbara Neece and husband, Terry; his sister, Wanda Dewease; his mother-in-law, Geneva Huffman; his stepmother, Virginia Dewease; and numerous other family members and friends. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Lynn Haven Baptist Church. Pastor Jason Hay will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation. on September 20, 2017.2

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Salty Sutherlin; a stepgrandson, Larry Sutherlin; two great-grandsons, Gordon Day and Coy Zeller; three sisters, Emma Green, Clara Smith and Betty Weels; and three brothers, Kenneth, Raymond and Delbert Hall. Services are scheduled for1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 E. Green St., Waveland, Ind., with the Rev. Velma Keesling and Brother Don Perry officiating. Burial will be in Sutherlin Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. on December 10, 2005.1

     Donald Ray "Don" Stevenson was buried at Calcutta Cemetery, Calcutta, Clay Co., Indiana.5 He Donald Ray Stevenson, 90, passed away on July 31, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on July 26, 1931 in South Bend to the late James and Ruby (Acree) Stevenson. Don attended Staunton schools, and soon after joined the Army, where he fought in the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Ethel Brown on June 18, 1955, and together they raised two children. Don spent most of his life working as a truck driver. He and Ethel loved traveling, and visited 48 states on his Gold Wing motorcycle. In his later years, Don enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns, playing euchre, and most importantly spending time with his family. Don was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Stevenson; and brother-n-law, Gilbert Brown. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Ethel Stevenson of Brazil; son, Denny (Jane) Stevenson of Newburgh; daughter, Julie Begin of Hope; brothers, Bob (Kay) Stevenson of Terre Haute, Ron (Cheryl) Stevenson of Peoria; sister, Doris (Don) Martin of Brazil; grandchildren, Luke, Lance, Jeremy; 9 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. Burial will take place at Calcutta Cemetery at a later date.5 He was born on July 26, 1931 at South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.3,5 He married Ethel E. Brown on July 18, 1955 at Indiana.4,5 Donald Ray "Don" Stevenson died on July 31, 2021 at Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana, at age 90.5

She had been a resident there for only one week. She was born August 10, 1914, in Putnam County the daughter of Otto B. Sawyer and Ocie Thomas Sawyer. She was a 1932 graduate of Van Buren High School. As a young girl she and her girlfriends traveled to Indianapolis to the Heckethorn Bakery, there she began her lifetime of excellent cooking and baking. In January of 1934 she married Ray Stevenson. She enjoyed being a farm wife, helping with livestock, quilting and working in the vegetable and flower gardens. She was known to make excellent noodles and pies that were second to none. She was devoted to her husband, her children and her grandchildren. In the past she was a member of the West Union Church of Christ and was currently a member of the McKinley Hill Church of Christ. She had been a member of the Lena Good Neighbors Club and the Van Buren Home Economics Club. Her parents; her husband Ray Stevenson, September 10, 1996; three brothers, Roscoe, Orville and Merrill Sawyer; and a son-in-law John Butler preceded her in death. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Shirley Stevenson of Brazil; daughter and son in law, Wilma and Robert Jenkins of Knightsville and daughter Norma Butler and fiance Jim Pugh of Columbus, Indiana; six grandchildren, Kenneth Stevenson, Dr. Michael Stevenson, Alan and Betsy Stevenson, James and Lisa Stevenson, Lucinda and Michael Miller and R. Scott and Jamie Jenkins; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan Stevenson, Paige Stevenson, Dustin Stevenson, Cody Stevenson, Megan Jenkins, Clark Jenkins, Matthew Miller, Shawn Miller, and Nina Miller; one brother and sister-in-law, Victor and Jean Sawyer of Crawfordsville; three sisters Lorene Miller of Lafayette, Dorothy Roberson of Indianapolis, and Reba Clifton of Dover, Delaware; many nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at French Funeral Home with Brother Rick Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and again Monday prior to services. If friends so desire, memorial contributions may be directed to McKinley Hill Church of Christ.      Earl Wayne Stevenson was buried at Calcutta Cemetery, Calcutta, Clay Co., Indiana.4 He was born on September 2, 1935 at Van Buren Township, Clay Co., Indiana.7,4,5,6 He married Shirley Ann Stitzle on August 22, 1954.4,6 Earl Wayne Stevenson died on February 22, 2014 at Brazil Township, Clay Co., Indiana, at age 78.4,7 He BRAZIL - Earl Wayne Stevenson, 78, of Brazil, passed away Feb. 22, 2014, in his home with his family by his side. He had endured a battle with Parkinson's disease for over 20 years. He was born on Sept. 2, 1935, the only son of Ray E. Stevenson and Amy Olean Sawyer Stevenson. Earl graduated from Van Buren High School, class of 1953. On Aug. 22, 1954, he married Shirley A. Stitzle Stevenson. Together they raised their family in the Van Buren area. Earl worked as a young man for Sherfey Furniture and American Vitrified. His father Ray Stevenson and Earl began Stevenson Farms and the family farm continues to this day. Earl loved farming and taking care of the livestock and horses probably more than grain farming. But, even after his health began to fail, he enjoyed watching the fields being worked and was a part of the daily operations as long as he could be. Earl was an active member of Clay County 4-H as a leader, past president of the Council and a member of the Extension Board. He was a longtime member of the Farm Bureau. He was a member of FFA in high school and was very proud that all of his grandchildren have also been members as well. Earl also had the job of school bus driver for several years and many remember him from those days. Mr. Stevenson has been a member of the Lena United Methodist Church and has been a trustee and a board member of the church. Earl was a devoted husband, dad and grandpa, and always a gentle man. Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Shirley A. Stevenson; sons, Dr. Michael Stevenson of Portland, Maine, Alan Stevenson and wife Betsy and Jim Stevenson and wife Lisa, all of Brazil; grandchildren, Ethan Stevenson, Paige Stevenson, Dustin Stevenson and Dakota Stevenson; two sisters, Wilma Jenkins and husband Robert of Knightsville and Norma Pugh and husband Jim of Seymour; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Amy Stevenson; son, Kenny Stevenson; and brother-in-law, John Butler. on February 24, 2014.4
