She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lemon Arvil Keith; three sons, Franklin, J.C., and Joe Keith; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Keith is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Vera Mae and Bob Hodge, Elliston, Jewel and Randolph Vaden, Blacksburg; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Keith and Joyce Keith, Riner, John Lewis and Geraldine Keith, Blacksburg, Arvil Keith and Elva Poff, Pilot; three daughters-in-law, Patsy Keith Duncan, Christiansburg, Pat Keith Adkins, Blacksburg, Mary Frances Keith, Elliston; two sisters, Clara Saunders, Radford, and Ruth McGrady, Christiansburg; a brother, Irvin Sowers, Floyd; 28 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Blacksburg First Wesleyan Church, Giles Road with Rev. John Hopkins, Rev. Claude Dove, and Rador Vaden officiating. Interment will follow in the Barringer Cemetery, Willis, Va. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Heritage Hall for their loving care during Mrs. Keith's illness. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Tuesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club, SW, Blacksburg. on January 14, 2003.2

Interment in the Restvale Cemetery. on July 12, 1990.8

Jinks retired from Green Hill, Inc. of Elliston. She loved camping and traveling with her late husband, Kelly, and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Kelly Mitchell, and her son, Kenneth Mitchell. Her surviving family members include two daughters and sons-in-law, Iris Ann and Richard Phillips of Salem, and Brenda and Nick Marks of Elliston; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Mitchell of Roanoke; six grandchildren, Allen and Angela Mitchell of Roanoke, Chris and Amber Mitchell of Roanoke, Connie and Rick Dickerson of Salem, Mike and Stephanie Phillips of Salem, Michelle and Jeff Rooker of Christiansburg, and Nichole Marks of Elliston. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, Melissa and Mark Dickerson, Jennifer Mitchell, Brandon and Cole Phillips, Kelly and Faith Mitchell, Cyrill Rooker and Devin Marks; two great great-grandchildren, Dakota and Kayleigh Dickerson. The family extends special thanks to Carilion Hospice for their help and support. Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park with Andrew Dunn officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem. on November 11, 2006.4

Cannaday, 99 year old Confederate war veteran, died Saturday at the home of his son, W. H. Cannaday, 1812 Kellogg Ave., N.W., Roanoke. He enlisted in the Confederate Army at the age of 16. Besides his son, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. D. B. Akers, of Floyd. A native of Franklin county, Mr. Cannaday lived most of his life in Floyd county. He was born August 14, 1848. Funeral services were conducted at Howery cemetery, Floyd, on Monday by Elder Sam Moran. Two sisters survive; Mrs. Arena Harry and Mrs. Amanda Kelly, both of this county. on December 4, 1947.7
