A former coal miner and welder, he last worked at Consolidated Cable. Darrell was the dear husband of Delilah Ruth Tolliver Gillespie; the fond brother of David Gillespie and his wife, Tammy, and Kay Pegram and her husband, Michael, all of Beckley; and the son-in-law of Jesse and Carrie Tolliver of Pierpoint. A large extended family also survives. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Revs. Bill Calhoun and Scott Lester officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. The family will receive friends noon until time of service. Pallbearers will be Scott Pegram, Robert Hilton, Brian and Brad Gillespie, Darren Copley and Rick Dixon. on May 23, 2008.2

I do give and bequeath unto my loving wife Jane Austin one Negro girl called Janey during the natural life of her the said Jane Austin, and at her decease I do give and bequeath the said Janey unto Elizabeth the daughter of Samuel Austin.
