A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Boothe officiating. He was a member of Poages Mill Church of the Brethren and was also a member of the American Legion. He loved gardening, fishing, hunting, yard work and NASCAR racing. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Mina U. Manning, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Olivia Manning of Graham, N.C., Wilbert and Faye Manning, of Vinton; one sister, Gladys M. Moore, of Burlington, N.C; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel on Brambleton Ave. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday August 1, 2013. Funeral services will be at Oakey's South Chapel at 2 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013. The Rev. E.B. Shoemaker and the Rev. Maurice Wright will officiate. Graveside services will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Pastor Bryan Ratliff will officiate. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel. on July 20, 2012.4
