Also surviving are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, January 22, 1996, at Lynch Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis family cemetery, Redwood. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Donations may be made to the Rocky Mount Church of God Building Fund, 828 North Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151. Rubie Irene Nichols Ms. Hancock was born in Floyd County and was a daughter of the late Rufus and Mamie Collins Nichols. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Woods. She was retired from the dietary department at Blue Ridge Nursing Center in Stuart, VA and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Collinstown, NC. Surviving are one daughter, Janet Holt of Stuart; three sisters: Hettie Dunford of Shawsville, Peggy Hoback of Salem and Elsie Isom of Winston-Salem, NC; three brothers: Maynard Nichols of Salem, Wilburn Nichols of Montvale and Howard Nichols of Lexington; one grandson and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services were conducted Monday at Trinity Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Paul Holt. Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Stuart.7 She was buried at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery, 1233 Collinstown Road, Collinstown, Stokes Co., North Carolina.7 She was born on August 5, 1918 at Floyd Co., Virginia.8 As of March 16, 1949,her married name was Hancock.8 She married James T. She is survived by her loving husband, A.B. Hoback; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Rodney Overstreet; grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Overstreet; brothers, Wilburn Nichols and wife, Hazel, and Howard Nichols and wife, Lorraine; sisters-in-law, Sadie Nichols and Lavene Nichols; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. David Mucha officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009, at John M. Oakey and Son. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Warren Lawless; a sister, Marcella Hagy; and a brother, James Malcolm Whitlock. She graduated from Fieldale High School in 1943. She retired from the city of Martinsville in 1986 after 30 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Collinsville and the Philathea Sunday School Class. Surviving are a son, Michael Warren Lawless of Huntsville; one sister, Mary Thompson of Martinsville; one granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Collins Funeral Services chapel with Dr. Calvin Rains officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Burial Park. He had such a kind heart and was such a humble man, he inspired everyone he met. He enjoyed his family and many friends, loved going to the lake and to Florida in the winters. He will be sadly missed by all who had ever known him. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine P. Richards. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty K. Richards; son, Gary Richards and wife, Kim; daughter, Connie Richards Cyckowski; grandchildren, Alicia Jones and Brandon Johnson; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle Jones; stepchildren, Jim and Patti Tribley, and Michael Byrd; step granddaughter, Samantha Murphy; and brothers, Irvin and Elizabeth Richards, and Robert and Shirley Richards. Special thanks to Dr. Green and all of the staff of Lewis Gale Hospital for taking such wonderful care of him and for being so kind to all of us. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. on May 2, 2009.8

He was born in Floyd, Va., on June 21, 1927, settled his family in Northeast Roanoke in 1953 moving to Audubon in 2014. Irvin retired with 20+ years as a yard conductor and brakeman at Norfolk and Southern in the Roanoke yards. Irvin and Elizabeth were avid Square Dancers having performed at the White House. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, they were members of Shenandoah Baptist Church. on November 22, 2019.4
