Shelby worked for Jeanette Uniforms for about six years before having her two children, and going back to work and retiring from Bennett Uniforms in 2003. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Ann Huff, and her ex-husband, Wayne, with whom she remained very close. Surviving are; her loving sons; Richard Wayne Scott Jr. and his wife, Tonya L. Miller Scott, and Randall Houston Scott, two brothers; Marshal McNeil and his wife Joann, and Kevin McNeil, one sister, Pat Weddle and her husband Gene, four grandchildren, Hannah Jean Scott, Michael Christian Scott, Ian Patrick Scott, and Adam Elijah Scott, one great grandson, Elijah Gregory White, all of whom she doted on every chance she got, and many special nieces and nephews. Mr. Scott was born on May 26, 1946, in Surry County, NC to the late Henry Bernard Scott and Mary Astor Hawks Scott. Wayne was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was a man of the Lord, a leader in his church and a twelve year pancreatic cancer survivor. He beat the cancer, having been declared cancer free in 2012. When told he had pancreatic cancer, he simply stated, "OK; if the Lord wants home, I win. If He wants me to stay here a while longer, I still win." He carried that statement out through the remainder of his life. In addition to his parents, Mr. Scott was preceded in death by one brother, Joel Dean Scott. Mr. Scott is survived by his sons, Richard Wayne Scott, Jr. and wife, Tonya L. Miller Scott and Randall Houston Scott; four grandchildren, Hannah Jean Scott, Michael Christian Scott, Ian Patrick Scott and Adam Elijah Scott; one great-grandson, Elijah Gregory White; brothers and sisters, Elaine Haithcock, Phyllis Harris (Glen), Tommy Scott (Judy), Debbie Brown, Sandy Littreal (Clark), Ronnie Scott (Wanda), Gary Scott (Francis), Timmy Scott and Tammy Hall (Lenny); numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Shelby Jean McNeil Scott, whom he still cared for very much. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville, NC. on July 17, 2015.⁵
