He was a member of the United Mine Workers. He was a member of the Bramwell Presbyterian Church and was ruling elder. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Theodosia Ann Gabris, four brothers and one sister. Survivors are his wife, Ruby Elmore Goins; one daughter, Mrs. Chester (Mary Jane) Kowaleski of Detroit, Mi; one son, William Monroe Goins of Detroit and five grandchildren. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell. Pallbearers: Ray Hill, Billy Quesenberry, Benny Meadows, Roger Cook, Jr., Gene Lavender, Frank Lockhart. on January 1, 1976.3 He died on August 31, 1976 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 75.3

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irma Schaffer; two sons, Donald L. of Chicago, Allen B. of Los Angeles; a daughter, Mrs. Harold DeCourcy of Silver Springs, Md; two sisters, Mrs. Al Rothschild of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. Julius Wolfe of Charleston; and eight grandchildren. Service and burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. on January 29, 1963.11

NE died early this morning in the Massillon city hospital after a six year illness. Mr. Schaffer was a retired government electrical engineer. He came to Massillon in 1948 to work on the Tuscarawas river straightening project. A graduate of West Virginia State university, Mr. Schaffer was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Massillon Post No. 221, American Legion. Surviving Mr. Schaffer are his widow, Mrs. Nevada Schaffer; his mother, Mrs. Nannie Schaffer of Alexandria. Va., a brother Dr. Philip Schaffer of Salem, Va and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Wolf of Chicago and Mrs. Saverna Rothschild of Washington, D.C. The body is at the Gordon-Shaidnagle-Hollinger funeral home pending completion of funeral arrangements which will be announced later. on February 5, 1957.6 He Wilhelm Schaffer Funeral - The funeral of Wilhelm Schaffer, 62, of 828 Mathias ave NE, will be held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at the Gordon-Shaidnagle-Hollinger funeral home. The Rev. Forrest E. Witt, pastor of the First Church of God, will officiate. Interment will be made in Rose Hill Memorial park. Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9. Mr. Schaffer, a retired government electrical engineer, died, early Tuesday morning in the Massillon city hospital. on February 6, 1957.13
