Some of Shari's favorite pastimes were quilting, spending time at Smith Mountain Lake, eating her Moose Track ice cream, and going to Mac And Bob's every chance she could. The family will receive friends at Sherwood Memorial Park's Abbey. A graveside service to immediately follow. on June 15, 2017.3

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Jones Goff; three sons, Jesse C. and Walter E., both of Fayetteville, Route 1, and Clifton Max Goff of Minden; a sister, Mrs. Stella Espet of Charleston; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Brethren Church at Gatewood with Rev. E. L. Clower in charge. Burial will be in the Huse Memorial Park at Fayetteville. The body will remain at the Dodd-Payne Funeral Home in Fayetteville where friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the funeral. on October 11, 1968.5

He was born on June 17, 1936, and was predeceased by his parents, Carlos P. Carr and Lebron Carr Winks. A lifelong resident of Vinton, he lived most of his life on the same property he moved to as a young boy. George graduated from William Byrd High School in the Class of 1954 and attended Roanoke College. He was employed for years at Clover Creamery, Double Envelope and Rental Uniform. George loved to tend bar and worked weekends at Johnny's Tavern and Polumbo's Restaurant in the early 1980s. Also on the weekends he worked for the Holiday Inn-Airport and operated a small lawn mowing business in the Vinton area. In the late 1980s he worked as an independent sub-contractor for Siemens Medical alongside his son-in-law, Mark. In his spare time, he liked to garden and "fish for trout" on the Roanoke River near Elliston. George is survived by his daughters, Melanie Carr Steinle and son-in-law, Mark, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Jill Carr of Vinton; and his brother, David Carr of Vinton. His family would like to thank Berkshire Health and Rehab for the excellent care he received while a resident there. A Private Inurnment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton. on February 23, 2017.3
