Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucy Austin Conner; six children: Irvin and Leonard Connor of McComas, Mrs. Robert Davidson and Hubert Conner of Bridgeport, Conn., Alfred of Bud, and Ralph, serving in the U.S. Navy; six brothers, Toy and Dick Conner, of McComas, Dock, of Princeton, Tom, of the Bluefield-Princeton Road; Walter and Jim Connor of Terry Fork, Va; and three sisters; the Misses Rose and Annie Conner, of Christiansburg, and Mrs. Eldridge Kingrea, Route 3, Bluefield. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. Interment will be in the Wilson cemetery near Floyd, Va. on June 10, 1954.9

She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law; Evelyn and Howard Bond of Dugspur, Magdalene McGuire of Christiansburg, Roberta and Sam Hurst of Shawsville; brother and sister-in-law, Wilton and Dedra Argabright of Shawsville; sister-in-law, Nell Argabright of Dublin; great-grandsons, Sheidan and Kieran Conner, both of Christiansburg, Dalton Sherwood of Charlotte, N. C; a special friend, Bill Hepler; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses their appreciation to the many special nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors for all their extra time, devotion, and acts of kindness at the end of her illness. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. on February 14, 2000.5

Barefoot Jr., 47, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2009. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The Rev. Barefoot, a native of Sampson County, lived his early life in the Roseboro community. He was the salutatorian of the 1980 Class of Lakewood High School. He attended Emmanuel College and graduated valedictorian of the 1985 Class of Holmes Bible College. He continued his studies at Southwestern College of Christian Ministries, where he received a master's degree in Church Planting. The Rev. Barefoot's ministry was in church planting. He began working as the minister of music at New Bern First Pentecostal Holiness Church. His first pastorate was at Warrenton Pentecostal Holiness Church. In 1988, he moved to Robersonville, where he was involved in the revitalization of the Robersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, which was renamed Grace Family Fellowship during his tenure there. He also pastored churches in Mount Olive, Asheville and Greenville, three of which he started as new churches. He was the current pastor of Grace Outreach Ministries in Winterville. The Rev. Barefoot was preceded in death by an infant son. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Brenda Barefoot; daughter, Mary Beth Barefoot, of the home; his parents, Noah and Westa Barefoot, of Roseboro; sisters, Bonita Spain and her husband, Reggie, and Dawn Barefoot, both of Greenville; nieces and nephews, Coleman, Tollie, Mary Catherine and Hudson Spain; and a special aunt, Cassie Barefoot.3 He was born on September 28, 1962 at Clinton, Sampson Co., North Carolina.1,2,3,4 He married Brenda Leigh Conner, daughter of Clyde Edsel Conner and Carolyn Joyce Bower, on September 28, 1985 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,5 Rev.      Daniel Otey was buried at Kinser Cemetery, Walkerville, Greene Co., Illinois; His tombstone reads "Co. J 4th Va. Res. CSA."6,3,5 He was born on July 27, 1847 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.1,5 He married Lucy Jane Vinyard on April 14, 1872 at Greene Co., Illinois.1,4 Daniel Otey Daniel Otey, aged 82 years, 1 month and 28 days, for many years a resident of Pleasant Dale neighborhood, southwest of White Hall, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. C. Giller in Roodhouse, at 12:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, 1929. Four weeks ago he became ill and at that time he went to his daughter's home to be cared for. Uremic poisoning is said to be the cause of his death. He had always been a robust man and was able to continue his farm work until a short time before his death.

Mr. Otey was the son of Samuel and Nancy Connor-Otey, and was born in Montgomery county, Virginia July 27,1847. When a young man he joined the Confederate army serving under General Lee until the close of the war. In1868 he came to Illinois, locating in Greene county and shortly afterward took up his residence in Pleasant Dale neighborhood, where he continued to reside until a few weeks before his death. Since the death of his wife he had lived alone.

April 14, 1872 he and Mrs. Lucy Vinyard-Kinser were united in marriage. She died April 9, 1915. The two children born to them both survive as follows: A. V. Otey, Forest City, Ark., and Annie, wife of Dr. W. C. Giller, Roodhouse. Two step children also survive, Mrs. Geneva Kinser, White Hall and George Kinser, Pleasant Dale neighborhood. There are six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One brother, Aaron Otey, resides in Pleasant Dale.

Mr. Otey was highly regarded by a large circle of friends and was affectionately known in his home neighborhood as "Uncle Dan". He was not a member of any lodge or church, but gave of his means for the support of the church. It can truly be said of him that he will be sadly missed from the activities of his home community.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Baptist Church in Pleasant Dale, Rev. W. R. Johnson, Jacksonville in charge. The Duncan Sisters Quartet furnished the music. The pall bearers were Harry Otey, Lyman Prindle, Clyde Hubbard, Fred Gibler, Mark Kinser and Bob Hubbard. The flowers were carried by Mrs. L. R. Prindle, Mrs. Ernest Schutz of Pleasant Dale, Mrs. D. M. Story, Roodhouse, and Miss Helen King, White Hall. in September, 1929.1 He died on September 25, 1929 at Roodhouse, Greene Co., Illinois, at age 82; His obituary has a death date of Sep 24, 1929.1,3,5
