She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Claude Wimmer; and a brother, Lamer Wimmer. Surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Daphne McNiel, Dorothy and Lewis Meredith, Lois and Charlie Epperly, all of Christiansburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harless and L.Z. Wimmer, Salem, Winston and Irene Wimmer, Pilot, Wesley and Diana Wimmer, Check, Ray and Marie June Wimmer, Rachel Wimmer, all of Christiansburg; 14 nieces; and 8 nephews; and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 21, at the Huffville United Methodist Church, Floyd County, conducted by Rev. Herbert Hobbs and Rev. Richard H. Horne, with burial in the Huffville Cemetery. The body will be placed in the Huffville Church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the New River Valley Hospice, 111 West Main Street, Christiansburg, Va. 24073. The family would like to thank New River Valley Hospice for their excellent care and support. Daphne Louise Wimmer Ralph and Daphne McNiel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 14 with a reception given by their children at the parents' home in Pilot. Mrs. McNiel is the former Daphne Wimmer. Their marriage took place on July 12, 1941, in Floyd County. The couple, who have resided for the past 40 years on their farm in Montgomery County, have 6 children and 8 grandchildren. Their children are Sue Altizer, Pilot; Carol Clower, Roanoke; June Wallace, Issaquah, Wa; Betty McNiel, Bellevue, Wa; Dan McNiel, Pilot; and the late Mary Ann Poff. Mr. McNiel is retired from Harvey Chevrolet and Mrs. McNiel is retired from Roses Stores, Inc.
on July 14, 1991.14 She died on January 9, 2011 at Virginia at age 89.4 She Daphne Louise McNiel, 89, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Ralph McNiel; daughter, Mary Ann Poff; sister, Marie Wimmer; and brothers, Lamer, Harless, Wesley and Winston Wimmer. She is survived by her son, James Dan McNiel; four daughters and sons-in-law, Sue Ellen and Terry Altizer, Carol and Stan Clower, June McNiel and Frank Wallace, and Betty McNiel and Kevin Killeen; 10 grandchildren, Lance Altizer (Christine), Scott Altizer (Debbie), Suzanne Altizer Baker (Tim), Rick Clower, Janine Clower Drum (Russ), Tim Fisher Poff (Michelle), Jim Poff (Dao), Alana Killeen, Trevor Killeen and Danielle McNiel; nine greatgrandchildren; brother, Ray Wimmer (Marie June); sisters, Dorothy Meredith and Lois Epperly; and sisters-in-law, Helen Janney, LZ Wimmer and Diana Wimmer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Kaye Wimmer; brothers, Lamar, Harless, Wesley, and Winston; sisters, Marie Wimmer and Daphne McNiel. He was the son of the late Edgar and Claude Wimmer. Ray is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie June Vest Wimmer; daughter, Janet Raye Wimmer; sisters, Lois Epperly and Dorothy Meredith of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law, Vera Clower, Kaula Dowdy, and Clara (Leo) Southern; brothers-in-law, L.C. Vest and LeeRoy (Carol) Vest; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ray was a very involved member of the Huffvillle United Methodist Church by singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School classes and supporting the church with his prayers and attendance. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1990. He loved to bowl and enjoyed all the many friends he made bowling in the Up and At'Em Senior league. He loved to work with his flowers and mow his yard. He had managed and cared for Huffville Cemetery for many years. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the many family and friends for your support and care during Ray's declining health. Also special thanks to Carilion Home Health and Carilion Hospice for the care he received over the past few months. The family received friends on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 24, 20144, at 11 a.m. at the Huffville United Methodist Church, 1078 Huffville Road, Pilot, with Pastor Darren Landon officiating. Interment will follow in Huffville Cemetery. She was a loving mother and grandmother, focusing on raising her family. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was a member of the circle. She loved her church. She and Lewis loved to travel and took numerous bus tours. Myrtle Beach was an especially special place. Due to the present Corona Virus situation, there will be a private graveside service for immediate family on Thursday April 16, 2020. on April 15, 2020.9

     Rachel Angle married Lamar Lee Wimmer, son of Edgar Hamilton Wimmer and Lela Charlotte "Claudie" Ridinger.1 Rachel Angle was buried at Huffville Union Church Cemetery, Terrys Fork, Floyd Co., Virginia.1 Her married name was Wimmer. She was born on April 3, 1921.2 She died on November 6, 2010 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia, at age 89.1 She Rachel Angle Wimmer, 89, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at her home. She was a long time member of the First Church of God on Cannan Road, Christiansburg and worked for Angle Florist in Christiansburg for twenty five years. The daughter to the late Earnest J. and Eva Angle she was also preceded in death by her husband; Lamer Wimmer, brothers; Paul and William Jack Angle, and sister; Lorene Wiseman. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Dorothy Angle of Hampton, Va; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Faye Martin of Christiansburg, Eddie and Carol Wimmer of Shawsville; seven grandchildren, Tim, Kecia Wimmer, Fort Chiswell, Chris and Emily Wimmer, Christiansburg, Steve and Dottie Frazier, Christiansburg, Rita and Ramsey Makhoul, Rhonda and Albert Mah, Robin and Dale Brooks, Randy and Neise Counts; twelve greatgrandchildren, Brice, Blake, Bryant, Georgia Rai, Maxwell, Donnie, Spencer, Kandice, Amanda, CJ, Andrew, Stephen, Kristin, Austin and Helen also one great-great-grandchild, Brennan White. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon at the Horne Funeral Home Monday, November 8, 2010 where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the First Church of God on Cannan Road, Christiansburg with Pastor Charlie Heater officiating.
