Mrs. Furrow is also survived by her dear family and friends of Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she was a member for a number of years. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. on June 1, 2008.3

The body was brought from McLean last night. Born April 20, 1862, near Harper's Ferry, Mr. Williams had been a car inspector for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway for 50 years at his retirement eight years ago. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Car Inspectors and of Gladstone Baptist Church. His wife, Mrs. Emma Smoot Williams, died several years ago. Surviving Mr. Williams are three sons, R. W. Williams of Madison Heights, James E. Williams of Lynchburg, and Jack Williams of Gladstone; five daughters, Mrs. W. B. Taylor of Allen's Creek, Mrs. M. F. Guthrie of Richmond, Mrs. S. H. Thomas of Gladstone, Mrs. E. T. Smith of Lynchburg, and Mrs. Johnson of McLean; a brother Cam Williams of Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. T. H. Bryant of Lynchburg. He leaves also 28 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. on January 17, 1942.2

(Bill) Furrow, Sr., 86, of Callaway, Va., passed away Friday, April 15, 2005. He was born May 3, 1918 in Franklin County, the son of the late C. K. and Dina Bell Furrow. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman Furrow and Claude (Babe) Furrow; five sisters, Lena Custer, Lura Bernard, Altha Guilliams, Alma Jones and Reba Bernard. Mr. Furrow was a veteran of the US Army serving in World War II and was a longtime member of the American Legion. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved working in his garden. He never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Era King Furrow; one son, B. L. Furrow, Jr. of Callaway and his fiance, Alease Hatcher of Ferrum; and one daughter, Lynda F. Messenger and husband, Henry of Callaway. Papa also had four grandsons, Eric Messenger and wife, Kim of Pflugerville, Texas, Donald Messenger and wife Wendy of Callaway, Steven Furrow and Matthew Furrow of Rocky Mount and one granddaughter, Nicole Taylor and fiance Craig Caron of Moneta. Also surviving is a twin brother, Buford W. (Pat) Furrow and wife, Evelyn of Callaway; special friends, Sonny, Jodie and Lisa Hodges; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank all the friends and loved ones for their support during Papa's illness. She was born on August 1, 1918, in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Tom and Dolly King. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Buren L. Furrow Sr. (Wild Bill). She was also preceded in death by sisters, Hattie Cannaday, Pauline Hutchinson, and Alpha Ramsey; and two brothers, Aaron King and Chester A. King. She was a long time employee of Elizabeth Arden. After retirement she and Bill enjoyed their garden and cooking and visiting family and friends. She is survived by one son and his fiance, B.L. Furrow Jr. and Alease Hatcher; one daughter and her husband, Lynda and Henry Messenger. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses, Eric and Kim Messenger, Nicole and Craig Caron, Steven and Lettitia Furrow, Donald and Wendy Messenger and Matthew and Dana Furrow. She has eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her children, she is survived by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lula and Coy Holley and Mary K. Toler. Also, she is survived by her brother and his wife, Arthur and Tessa King. Mom also had two young men, Sonny and Jody Hodges, that lived with her and daddy, who were very close to her. The family would like to thank all of the friends and family that helped care for Mom over the years. We would especially like to thank Joe and Beverly Rutter, for the love and kindness they showed Mom and her family for past two and a half years. They are truly special to all of us. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Callaway Fire Department, Callaway Rescue Squad or to the Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
