Born March 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Paul and Nettie Pearl Stover Redden. Eva was an extremely talented seamstress with over 37 years experience with Maidenform in Princeton and was a Certified Nursing Assistant, finishing at the head of her class. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Delbert and George Redden. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ellsworth Edward Hutchens of Ghent; two sons, Edward Lee Hutchens of Lexington, Ky., and Russell Ray Hutchens of Cornelia, Ga; three daughters, Sharon Lynn Hutchens Lowe of Poca, Sandra Kay Hutchens Nichols of Lexington, Ky., and Melissa Rene Hutchens Arthur of Graniteville, S.C; a brother, Royal Gene Redden of Pomerene, Ariz; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two very special friends, Mary Francis Titta and Lisa Lilly, both of Ghent. At Mrs. Hutchen'? request, she was cremated and a private memorial service with the family will be held at a later date. Delp Sr., 86. BECKLEY - Born on October 30, 1928 at Stotesbury, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert Lee Delp Sr., and Cynthia Truitt Delp. Mr. Delp was a retired coal miner with 34 years of service, and was a member of the UMWA. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served as a gunner's mate on the USS Worcester during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Delp attended the Stotesbury School and enjoyed gardening as a hobby. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Mullis, Jean Bowling, Ina Hornsby, Joyce Hurley, and Martha Frances; by brothers Robert, James Earl, Gary, Raymond, Harold, and Larry Delp. Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Alice Hutchens Delp. His children, Susan Delp of Columbia, S.C., Kimberly Elkins and her husband Dan of Columbia, S.C., David Delp and his wife Susan of Cool Ridge, and Alfred Delp Jr. and his wife Tisa of Manning, S.C. Grandchildren, Zachary and Tyler Elkins of Columbia, S.C., Jonathan Delp of Columbia, S.C., and David Andrew Delp and his wife Christy of Beaver; two great grandchildren, Madison and Riley Grace Delp; two step grandchildren, Joseph Elkins of Columbia, S.C., and Tesa Bontrager and her husband David of Eagle River, Wis; three step great grandchildren, Lance, Bethalyn, and Lillian Bontrager, all of Eagle River, Wis. A sister, Janet Caulder and her husband Carl of Fairmont, N.C., and sisters-in-law, Chloe Delp of Dallas, Texas and Erma Delp of Beckley. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11 a.m., with Mr. Steve Baird officiating. Born May 8, 1916, in Bluefield, he was a son of the late John Alexander Whitlock and Nancy Maude Coles Whitlock. Mr. Whitlock was raised in Bluefield and attended Beaver High School (Class of 1934), West Virginia Business College, and the Virginia Military Institute (Class of 1939) in Lexington, Va. He was a veteran of World War II, in the U.S. Army 871st Engineer Topographic Company, serving in the Pacific Theatre during the invasions of Leyte and Luzon and the fall of Manila in the Philippines. During the Korean War, he was an ROTC instructor in the Engineer section at West Virginia University, Morgantown. He retired at the rank of Major, C.E., after 26 years of active and reserve service. Mr. Whitlock retired as Corporate Secretary of Flat Top Insurance Agency in 1981 after 43 years. He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Bluefield Lions Club, Bluefield Country Club, Bluefield Elks Lodge No. 269, American Legion - Riley-Vest Post No. 7, Reserve Officers Association, and (formerly) the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John A. Whitlock Jr., and Charles B. Whitlock; a sister, Mamie Whitlock Miller Brown; a nephew, John A. (Jackie) Whitlock III; his first wife, Frances Earhart Burkett Whitlock; and his second wife, Bonnie Light Thornton Whitlock. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Leigh Whitlock of Afton; two sisters, Anne Whitlock Dickey of Charlottesville, Va., and Claire Whitlock Cooper of Corpus Christi, Texas; and by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory of Bluefield with Dr. I. Mark Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Robert B. Dickey, Tommy Hughes, Scott Wade, Greg Wade, and Steve Aker. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bluefield Lions Club. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Katherine Darlene Perdue Wickham; son, Erik Wickham of Bluefield; daughter-in-law, Lisa Ann Wickham of Bluefield; brothers, Reginald Wickham of Rockville, Md. and Samuel Wickham of Silver Springs, Md; sisters, Shirley Corson of Bishop, Va., Carol Ann Warsaw of Silver Springs, Bobbi Regina Bertok of Morrisville, N.C; granddaughters, Tiffany, Kelley, Kimberlie and Emmily Wickham. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with Pastors, Danny Scott, Jim Coe and Dennie Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens. Graveside services will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Post 9696, Bluefield, Va. and the Pocahontas American Legion Post 14. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Willard, Chris Doughty, Mike Doughty, Matthew Perdue, Chris Wickham and Russell Wickham. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
