Paul Houston and Rev. Stephen Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Bluefield-Princeton Road. Born in Bozoo, he was a son of the late Walter Nelson and Annie Cortty Nelson. He had been a mechanic for the Northfork Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Bluefield for 43 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and a past member of the church’s usher board. He was past president of the church’s Men’s Bible Class and was a member of the Methodist Men of the church. He also was a member of Mercer Masonic Lodge 160, the Royal Arch Masons and the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Letha Conner Martin; one son, James C. Martin Jr., of Bluefield; two brothers, A. P. Martin of Mullens and J. I. Martin of Virginia Beach, Va; one sister, Nellie McClure of Norfolk, Va; and one grandchild. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Knights of Templar. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. on December 24, 1972.⁴

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow at Hall's Cemetery in Ironto. Surviving are his wife, Eva L; three sons, Ercel of Fort Scott; Kansas, Olin of Pacific City and Kenneth of Enumclaw; two daughters, Mrs. Harold Dildine of Puyallup and Mrs. Gene Dunlap of Riverview, California; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Stacy of Princeton; 19 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. on February 2, 1960.¹⁰
