Poff, 53, a meat cutter for Refrigerated Locker Service, Inc., Died of a heart attack yesterday in his room at the Park Hotel. His body was found on the floor near the bed by Jimmy Sutton, a clerk, and Sid Cochran, a guest, who had gone to Mr. Poff's room see if he wanted something to eat. Dr. Goff P. Lilly, county coroner, said Mr. Poff died of a heart attack and added that he had been in ill health about a year. He was born Nov. 9, 1899, in Kanawha County, son of the late John and Emma Holstein Poff, and had lived in the county all of his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. W. D. Parks of Charleston and Mrs. Ed Mullins of RFD 5, Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. A. S. Skaggs of Cabin Creek and Mrs. Bert Eads of Frame; and two grandchildren. Service will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Barlett mortuary Chapel. Rev. L. H. Greenwood will officiate and interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. The body will remain at the mortuary until funeral time. on January 4, 1953.7

She retired from the Lyons Elementary School and was known as the “lunch lady.” Lois was a wonderful housekeeper, very loving to all and never knew a stranger. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Scott) Spencer; son, William Jr. (Noreen); grandchildren, Jessica (Claire Gibson) Spencer, Jared (Crystal Avon) Spencer, Ashley and Adam Pilkenton; great-grandson, Aaron Scott Rodney Spencer, all of Lyons; two brothers, Edward and Fred Poff; sister, Rachel Roark, all of West Virginia; sister-in-law, Jessie Pilkenton of Lyons and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, William Sr. in 2001, and brothers, Everett and Calvin Poff. on January 9, 2007.3

In addition to her parents, her husband, Alvin Creath “Jack” Roark Sr. and a son, Alvin Creath Roark Jr; brothers, Everett “Pat” Poff and Calvin Poff; and a sister, Lois Pilkenton preceded her in death. Survivors: Brothers: Edward Poff and wife Stella of Bluewell, Fred Poff and wife Boots of Bluewell; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Bluewell with the Rev. Sam Cale III officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 - 11:00 prior to the service at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Roark family. on January 9, 2007.4

He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home, Fred worked and retired as a route salesman for Coppinger and Eimco. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held for Mr. Poff on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. with the Reverend Stephen Rector and the Reverend D. Homer Stewart officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va. with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The West Virginia Honor Guard will be conducting military graveside rites. Friends and family can call at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the Poff family ask that memorial contributions be made to Bluewell United Methodist Church, Rt. 4 Warden Ave. Bluefield, WV 24701, and/or Alzheimer's Association, P.O. He was a retired superintendent for Traux-Traer Coal Co., had lived in Kanawha County for 50 years, and was a member of the Acme Methodist Church. Left to cherish his memory is his precious wife, Bonnie, his daughters, Galena and Camellia; his son-in-law, Allen, and two adorable grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Boyd Grubb, and his sisters, Frances August and Wanda Semones. Jerry was employed by Food Lion for 26 years. Church life was very important to him; he loved to teach God's Word and sing. It was important to him that people knew about the Lord and His goodness. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley, Blacksburg, Va., with the Reverend T.      Frances Marie Wiseman was buried at Restvale Cemetery, Rt. 221, Check, Floyd Co., Virginia.2 She was born on April 1, 1926 at Roanoke, Virginia.1,3 She married Charles Otis "Charlie" "Brother" Poff Jr., son of Charles Otis "Charlie" Poff Sr. and Cynthia Belle Gillespie, on November 5, 1948 at Roanoke, Virginia.4,5,2,1 As of November 5, 1948,her married name was Poff.1 Frances Marie Wiseman died on January 25, 2015 at Virginia at age 88.2 She Frances Marie Poff, of Roanoke, Va., left this earth to join her loved ones in Heaven on Sunday, January 25, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, son Alvin, two daughters, Pat Cassell and Jeania Wilson and a granddaughter, Skylar Wilson. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janice (Mike); son and daughter-in-law, Randy and VeeVee; 12 grandchildren including her "favorite," Keily; and many great-grandchildren that she adored. Frances was a life long member of the Church of God. She was retired from Roanoke County Schools. After retiring she spent her time baby sitting her great-grandchildren and was the best sitter we could have ever asked for. Special thanks to the staff of Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home and her dear friend, Gloria, who was her guardian angel. Interment will follow in Rest Vale Cemetery, Floyd County. on January 27, 2015.2
