He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Wayne was a member of the North Suffolk Rotary Club, the North Suffolk Social Club, Smithfield German Club, and Cedar Point Country Club. Wayne served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a naval aviator. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Constance Duncan and brother, S. Gordon Duncan. Wayne leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 31 years, Catherine Barlow Duncan; his son, Wayne L. Duncan Jr. and wife Phyllis of Virginia Beach; daughters, Constance D. Grizzard of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Catherine L. Barlow of Smithfield, and Patricia B. Donaldson and husband William of Newport News; grandchildren, Wayne L. Duncan III, Jason Duncan, Tess Duncan, Mark Grizzard, Mila Nurney, Elizabeth Linville, Brooke Linville, Turner Donaldson, Katherine Donaldson; six great-grandsons, Noah, Harrison, Jordan, William, Barritt and Logan. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. C. Patrick Laughlin and Susan G. Gardner for their many years of devoted care. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Point Country Club Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Gary Barker officiating. A reception will follow. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004 at Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Hershel Stone and Mr. Otto Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
