After his retirement he moved to Clear Creek, Calif., for 22 years and served as fire chief in Clear Creek for four years. He was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and was active in the church wherever he lived. He was a 60-year member and Past Master of Masonic Lodge No. 501, A.F.&A.M., Westwood, Calif., Scottish Rite and Ben Ali Shrine of Sacramento, Calif., and Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Lodge, Woodland, Calif.
